From the Headmaster:

Well, what a week!

Monday - Hot chocolate and marshmallows during Adventure School (having made their own fire or warmed milk on the Trangia camping stove).

Tuesday - Glorious sunshine and off to Richmond Park for games and associated fun, not forgetting the return of our Rowing Club.

Wednesday - Nerf Gun Wars!

Thursday - Cycling Club off into the Park (again) for two wheeled adventures.

Friday - Book Character Day and all of the associated book related adventures!

Not a bad week to resume 'normal' activities and to welcome the whole school back.

You will, therefore, be in no doubt as to our desire to ensure that all of our children return home each day happy and having been provided with the all important social opportunities and invaluable time with their friends. Judging by the smiles at the end of each day, I would like to think that we have had a good start. 'Best day ever!' was the declaration yesterday evening as we swooped, shredded and bunny hopped through Richmond Park, I could only agree...

Given the nature of this week and associated energy levels, I am sure you will accommodate my consideration towards colleagues in giving them a deserved respite from their normal contributions to the Deerstalker this week. Pictures paint a thousand words?

PS - Hearty and the warmest of congratulations to Miss Vari and Gabor. Laura, as you can see, is a very happy and healthy young lady, as is mum. So pleased for them all. 👏

Whilst I look forward to the day where I don't spend quite so much time on zoom, I did enjoy the sharp focus it brought to expressions of pain during the interhouse quiz on Thursday. Answers and questions can be found at the conclusion of this edition. It seems that we have some budding MasterMinds or University Challengers in our ranks.

Congratulations to St. George's for their particular and successful efforts, and to all for joining in with such enthusiasm!

Illness & Medical

We continue to abide with the DfE Regulations.

We ensure that anyone developing those symptoms during the school day is sent home.

These are essential actions to reduce the risk in schools and further drive down transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).

We would like to remind you that if your child is absent from school due to sickness (vomiting, diarrhoea) they must be clear for at least 48 hours prior to returning to school. You must inform the school office directly on 020 8546 5496 if your child will be absent that day.

Should your child develop symptoms or receive a positive result from a PCR test for Covid-19 you must immediately inform the school office - secretary@parkhillschool.com

This email is monitored during the school day and at set intervals during the weekend. If our line is busy, we have a backup answer service where an operator can take your message and we, as a school, are alerted accordingly.

We receive daily updates to the regulations every 24 hours and this information is reviewed and any alterations to the regulations immediately adopted. We abide by the PHE and DfE advice.

You must never hesitate to seek clarification direct from myself or Nicola to ensure any concern or anxiety is dealt with in the most sensible, efficient and direct manner.

Book Character Day

Right, I will declare it now. This was the best Book Character Day ever! Enormous fun and brilliant costumes, well, that and an excuse to be Thor all day. The hair! The cape! I may not reappear in suit and tie ever again.

The Arti-ful Dodger...

And in the middle of a super day, a rather welcome visitor with some really impressive writing! Well done, Elin!

"Park Hill is not a place; never was. This could be Park Hill. Park Hill is where our people stand. Even now, right now, those people need your help."

Mr Stevenson, Osmo and Second Steps

Gadgets? Technology? Park Hill? Mr Stevenson? A first chance to explore how a rather clever little device can support literacy and story telling in Early Years. The trial was a great success, more next week...

Music Composition

A chance to create lots of noise (don’t tell the neighbours) should never be missed and our children certainly delivered this week.

Instrumental Lessons

We are still conducting instrumental lessons, please do contact Miss Menon or Nicola who can help. Now, for a clever set up and just how our piano teacher is able to teach, watch this clever video below.
