Task 1: Mexican Burritos

Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/4 Onion, 1 tomato, 1 garlic clove, 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 100g minced beef, 1 tsp tomato paste, 1 tsp fresh coriander. This recipe is very nice tasting and also contains a variation of different ingredients one of these ingredients is Chocolate. Chocolate originated in South america and was cultivated by the mesoamericans as early as 1900 B.C.. Olmec, Mayan and Aztec civilisations found chocolate to be an invigorating drink, mood enhancer and aphrodisiac, which led them to believe that it possessed mystical and spiritual qualities. The Mayans worshipped a god of cacao and reserved chocolate for rulers, warriors, priests and nobles at sacred ceremonies.

Task 2: Vietnamese Spring Rolls

Ingredients: 4 rice paper rolls, 35g vermicelli noodles, 8 mint leaves, 6 fresh prawns, 4 small lettuce leaves, 1 small carrot, 4 coriander leaves, 4 thai basil stems, 8 long chives, 20g beansprouts. This recipe was very challenging as the rice paper rolls are very thin and fragile, so they broke very easily when we were making them wet and putting in the filling. Food waste is a big problem in Hong Kong. I think this happens because restaurants are scared of ordering not enough food so they order to many ingredients which don't get eaten and aren't fresh anymore, which then gets thrown away. I think we could fight this problem by getting our restaurants; to order less food and then they wont have to throw so much away.

Task 3: Sushi

Ingredients: 2 sheets of nori, 2 tablespoons sushi rice, 1/4 avocado, 1/4 red pepper , 1/4 cucumber, 1/4 carrot, 3 spring onions, 2 pieces Chinese spinach, 1tbsp cooked tuna, 1 tbsp crab stick. This recipe was very challenging as the rice was very sticky and the rolling up of the seaweed was very hard as it kept falling apart. Last but not least it was very hard to cut the long sushi rolls. Fish meat provides the basis for Japan’s most world famous delicacy; Sushi. As most of Japan's cuisine is made up out of sea food over fishing could really affect the way that they eat as they might have to change their fish to another choice.

Task 4: Greek Flat Bread (Pita Bread)

Ingredients: 90ml milk, 60ml of hot water, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp butter, 1 sachet yeast, 250g plain flour, pinch of salt. In the Mediterranean eating with family is very important in their country as in many Mediterranean countries eating is a time for telling your family about your day and

Task 5: Curry Pockets

Ingredients: ● 2 Tomatoes ● 1 Clove garlic ● 2cm piece root ginger ● 1 tsp cumin ● 1 tsp garam masala ● 1 tsp chilli powder ● 100ml water ● ¼ onion ● 1 tbsp tomato puree ● ½ stock cube ● ¼ green pepper ● ¼ red pepper ● 8 wonton skins. This Recipe was very challenging as the won ton skins were very fragile and the sauce was flowing out of the cups. Fairtrade - "With simple shopping choices you can get farmers a better deal.
