TATA ENGAGE HOSTS ITS FIRST EVER VOLUNTEERING CONFERENCE: tHE TATA VOLCON

Tata VolCon – Tata Engage’s very first Volunteering Conference was held on 23rd March’18 to bring together the volunteering SPOC (Specific Point of Contact) community within the Tata group. The Tata Engage SPOC community are a cadre of self-driven employees of the Tata group who support volunteering opportunities within their companies, above and beyond their daily duties in their functional areas. Tata Engage is supported by over 600 SPOCs from across the geographies who actively support communication campaign dissemination, curation of volunteering opportunities and reporting of volunteering hours for their respective companies.

The VOLCON saw over 90 participants from various companies, several of whom were winners of the coveted Tata Volunteering Week Awards from editions 8 and 9.

In addition to celebrating volunteering, Tata VOLCON also showcased good practices from global peers in the corporate volunteering space and discussions on the latest trends, Leading speakers who shared their Global and Indian perspectives on volunteering included: Hajime Miyazaki, Partnership Officer at UN Volunteers and Shalabh Sahai, Co-Founder & Director, iVolunteer. The second session covered the challenges and opportunities available for deputation based volunteering, with leading corporate representatives such as Kshitija Krishnaswamy, Director-Corporate Citizenship, India, Accenture, Sonia Shrivastava, Head - Vodafone Foundation, and Sachal Aneja the Asia-Pacific Corporate Engagement Manager for VSO, sharing good practices from their volunteering programmes. The VOLCON also had a whole host of wonderful stories from the field – by non-profit partners, ProEngagers and Disaster Response Volunteers.
