TRASH SERVICE CHANGES COMING EARLY 2021

TC, did you get one of these postcards in the mail? No worries, it's just a heads up that state law is requiring TC to make changes to its trash collection services in 2021.

The City is currently working with its waste hauler to create a program that is cost-effective and in compliance with state laws. More details to come soon.

DISPOSE YOUR HOLIDAY TREE!

If you haven't already, chuck the holiday tree and make room for the New Year! Now through Jan. 15, dispose of your holiday tree curbside as part of regularly scheduled trash service. Flocked trees and those with decorations and tree stands will not be collected.

COUNCIL MEETING

At the January 19, 2021 City Council Meeting, the City Council will consider the following items: Approval of City Council’s Special and Regular Meeting Minutes of January 5, 2021, COVID-19 operational status update, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, and Fiscal Year 2020-2021 mid-year budget review.

COUNCIL MEETINGS

Members of the public can participate in the teleconference Council meetings by following the instructions stated on the meeting agenda. Members of the public can listen to the meeting audio livestream online at HERE or on Youtube, ConnectwithTC. Requests to speak during “Public Comment” will be accepted by email to cityclerk@templecity.us before and during the meeting, prior to the close of public comment on an item. Efforts will be made to read written comments received before the end of the meeting. Comments that are not read into the record will be made part of the record. Lengthy public comment may be summarized in the interest of time.

YOUTH COMMITTEE

The Youth Committee’s January mental wellness message is “Live Life in Full Bloom”. This message will be displayed on the digital billboard until end of January.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

ANNUAL OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS SUSPENDED

The City Council has suspended enforcement of the City’s overnight parking rules given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that suspension, the City will not be taking applications for annual overnight parking permits. Before the City restarts enforcement, we will give ample notice and reach out to residents that held annual permits in 2020. LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Join us as we ring in the 2021 Lunar New Year Virtual Celebration, the year of the Ox. This is a partnership between the City and the Temple City Chinese American Association to streamline a series of traditional Lunar New Year entertainment followed by Dragon and Lion dances, while provide educational insight on the performances and community messages. The 2021 Lunar New Year Virtual Celebration will premiere on the City’s social media platforms beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13.

HEALTHY TC-HEALTHY EATS

Happy New Year! With every New Year, we get a fresh start. This year why not start by eating healthier or maybe even adding alternative options into your everyday meals.

The first ten participants to enroll will receive a 7-pack of bento meal prep containers to help with meal prepping for the week. If you complete the challenge for this month, you will automatically be entered into a raffle to win 1 of 5 meal prep cookbook “The Everything Healthy Meal Prep Cookbook!”.

FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT

The Parks and Recreation Department continues the popular Family Trivia Night program in 2021! Trivia topics include: Marvel vs. DC, 80’s vs. 90’s, Pixar Movies and Harry Potter. Each monthly trivia night will have a main theme with three different categories ranging between 20-30 questions per round. After each category, winners will be announced and the top three finishers receive gift cards! It is absolutely free to participate in the City's monthly Family Trivia Night. Pre-registration is required for each monthly trivia night

CRAFT CLUB

Join the fun and get creative with specially themed crafts, tasty snack recipes, and awesome games via Zoom! Youth ages 6-12 years can register for 2021 Craft Club sessions that take place on Friday nights from 5:30-7:30p.m. Registration for each two-class session is $15 and includes a “Rec Pack” of crafting supplies, materials, snacks, and recipes. Rec Packs will be available via contactless pick-up at the Live Oak Community Center Annex located at 10144 Bogue Street.
