While in quarantine, it seems that there are more hours than usual in the day and it's hard to find enough activities to fill it. A great way to pass the time and also come out of quarantine as a better version of yourself is by doing self care and beauty activities. Since many of the stores are closed, which may make it harder to buy the products you need for your ¨quarantine glow up¨, here are some natural beauty remedies you can make on your own. Not only are they more affordable and fresh, but will be an entertaining activity to pass the time.
Lemon and Lavender Body Scrub
Step one: Gather your ingredients. For this scrub, you will need coconut oil, pure Epsom salt (lavender scented is optional), a lemon and lavender drops. You will also need a container to store your final product.
Step two: Combine all of the ingredients in at once. Add two tablespoons of Epsom salt, three tablespoons of coconut oil, as many lavender drops as preferred and the amount of lemon zest that you desire. Once you have added in all of your ingredients, crush the mixture to get a more fine and smooth final product. After you have done this, you have your lemon lavender body scrub! All of the ingredients in this scrub are very beneficial to your skin. The salt will exfoliate and remove all of the dead skin on your body, giving it a smoother look and feel. Coconut oil will make your skin extra soft, lush and super hydrated. Lavender can reduce inflammation, and will also can make you feel more calm and relaxed. The lemon zest will give for a more fresh feeling and helps in preventing and fighting skin problems such as wrinkles, acne, pigmentation and dark spots.
Lemon Water Toner
Step one: Gather your ingredients. For this refreshing lemon toner, you only need two simple ingredients: lemons and water. Make sure you also have a container to put your final product in.
Step two: Start by cutting up one to two slices of lemon and placing them inside the container you will be holding your product in. Putting freshly cut lemons inside the container will allow the toner to stay fresh for a longer period of time, and will allow the lemon to infuse into the toner.
Step three: For the third and final step, begin by filling up your container with half water, and then fill the rest with half lemon juice from the rest of the cut lemon. After this, you have your lemon toner. This toner is refreshing and will give your skin a tightening and brightening effect. Lemon is known for both of these qualities and will clear up ache due to its acidic properties. Keep this product in the fridge for best results and apply with a cotton ball on your skin after washing with your favorite facial soap.
Honey Oatmeal Face Mask
Step one: Gather your ingredients. For this face mask, you will need honey, plain Greek yogurt and oatmeal. You will also need a tool to crush the oatmeal to a fine powder. Make sure to also have a container of your choice to store your final product.
Step two: Next, you are going to put 2 tablespoons of oatmeal into your container. Once that is in, grind the oatmeal into a grainy powder. You still need to leave it somewhat grainy, as the oatmeal crumbs will have an exfoliating effect on your skin.
