Port Adelaide has overrun a gallant Norwood outfit with a powerful find term to earn a comfortable win by 45 points at Alberton Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The Legs got within 12 points at the start of the final term, however the Magpies stamped its authority on the contest booting seven last quarter majors to earn a comfortable win. The Redlegs started well as Anthony Wilson latched onto a spearing pass from Dom Barry to register their first goal five minutes into the contest.

Norwood went onto kick the next two through Wilson and Cameron Shenton, before tall target Charlie Dixon, Aidyn Johnson and Cam Sutcliffe all registered their first of the contest.

The home side appeared to be full of run as ruckman Billy Frampton kicked the first two of the second term inside ten minutes. Former Panther Cody Szust then found space to kick his first of the day before second gamer Brodie Carroll unleashed from 45 metres to kick the Redlegs fans something to cheer about on the halftime siren

Magpies captain Cam Sutcliffe gave the hosts the perfect start as he registered his third of the contest within the first two minutes of the Premiership quarter. The Redlegs needed a spark and Wilson was again dangerous snapping from point blank range to kick his third of the contest. Lewis Johnston unleashed a trademark 50 metre goal to send the Redlegs fans into raptures, before Barry again hit the scoreboard snapping cleverly on his right to give Norwood their third in succession.s.

The Magpies continued to fight as Boyd Woodcock and Willem Drew proved the difference kicking two majors to extend the margin to 17 points heading into the final stanza.

When Szust streamed through centre half-forward to find Peter Bampton at the top of the goal square, Bampton trimmed the margin with his set shot to just 12 points in the ninth minute of the fourth quarter. Norwood, however, couldn’t match it with the Magpies who ran out eventual winners by 45 points.

Lewis Johnston and Cameron Shenton were Norwood’s major ball winners with 27 disposals each, while Mitch Grigg collected 22 touches to go with 10 clearances.

Dom Barry had 21 possessions and a goal in his return to Alberton after spending last year on the Power’s senior list.

Norwood will now turn their attention to Saturday afternoon when they face the in-form Eagles at Coopers Stadium from 2:40pm.
