In this class, its never a failure, but a learning experience. So, try again.
Designing a class of active creators means they are learning to take their mistakes and turn them into new possibilities, or improve on the original concept. In other words, we never quit, we do our best.
Everyone is creative, they just need to learn to recognize that fact.
As an artist, I've explored many art forms to express creativity. I've included a few of what I've done over the past few years. As an educator, I teach methods in exercising one's creative mind and introduce a variety of tools to help self expression.
I have a B.A. in fine arts and education from the University of Guam and a Masters of Education in Educational Media from Arizona State University. I've taught K-12 as well as adults for the last 19 years.
Besides getting a grant from the West Valley Arts Council to present works I've created in a virtual world, I also did a "Your Call" project where I had middle school students at the Arts Academy at West Point, design a virtual world of our own.
I am still a working artist and educator, with a background as being an Adobe Educational Trainer, Dysart Technology Leader and Master Intel Teacher. I have also been a member of the award winning team that made a difference in technology in Arizona schools through ASU's Preparing Teachers to Use Technology grants.
I've had exhibits at the Arizona State Capital, Surprise City Hall, Avondale City Hall, Glendale Art Gallery, Peoria, Phoenix and WHAM Art Gallery in Surprise, as well as in Guam and Oregon.
I have won grants from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as other educational grants and awards in Arizona, Oregon and Guam.
I encourage lifetime learning because I am such a learner myself.
