Constance Hallemeier, a math teacher at Liberty High School, has been selected as the 2020-2021 Wentzville School District Teacher of the Year. This year’s winner is presented by WSD marketing partner Allstate agent John Larson. Candidates are judged on their ability to inspire and educate students of all backgrounds and abilities, as well as their ability to lead and inspire their colleagues. The surprise announcement was made during the Board of Education meeting on December 17.
This is the second time in Mrs. Hallemeier’s career that she has been selected as the District Teacher of the Year. She has worked for the WSD since 2003 and held the honor previously in 2006-2007. "I am so honored to be selected from all the amazing teachers represented from around the District who engage our students each and every day," said Mrs. Hallemeier following the announcement. "It's truly a blessing to work in a district that has such dedicated teachers."
As the winner of the District Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Hallemeier is now eligible to compete at the regional and state level in the Missouri Teacher of the Year program, which is conducted annually by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in conjunction with the National Teacher of the Year program.
During the District Teacher of the Year process, each school selected their Teacher of the Year and announced it during American Education Week, November 16-20, and those teachers then went through an application and interview process to be considered for District Teacher of the Year.

Each year in May, we look forward to paying special tribute to our employees at the District Awards Banquet. One of the groups of employees being honored are our 2020-21 Support Staff Employees of the Year. Each building in the District elects their own Support Staff Employee of the Year, and then the building winners are eligible for the District Support Staff Employee of the Year.
Our support staff employees often labor behind the scenes, but their hard work never goes unnoticed, and these individuals are truly the glue that holds our District together. It is our support staff employees who drive our buses, prepare our meals, clean our buildings, maintain our facilities, and do a hundred other jobs that help support our educational efforts.
Leslie Wagner, Administrative Secretary at Timberland High School, has been selected as the 2021 District Support Staff Employee of the Year. The surprise announcement was made at the office of Timberland High School on Friday, May 14, 2021.
“I love working at Timberland! We have great people, great students and staff. I’m very thankful and humbled to be named District Support Staff Employee of the Year,” said Wagner. Wagner has worked in the Wentzville School District since 2008, and for the last six years, she’s served as an administrative secretary at Timberland High School.
Timberland High School Assistant Principal Liz Reckker shared, “Leslie Wagner is amazing! She takes on any task with no complaint, has very high standards for herself, and cares a lot about other people. We love having her here at Timberland.”
Each year in May, the District looks forward to paying special tribute to our employees at the District Awards Banquet. For the second time since its inception, the event has been canceled - like so many other special, end-of-the-school-year celebrations - due to the pandemic. The WSD has featured different groups of employees over the past several weeks through virtual tributes to honor them and their work.
