COVID-19 Update: Large Group Gatherings

Dear Evergreen,

We have decided to extend our cancelation of all large group gatherings through April 9. Unfortunately, this continues to include Sunday worship, all student ministry gatherings, and recovery services.

However, the staff of Evergreen will continue to be functioning and available with any needs you may have. We continue to seek ways to provide excellent guided worship opportunities and pastoral care for our community. The Council also continues to meet regularly. They most recently decided to bring on Mark Warren, a consultant with LogicBoard Inc., who will use his expertise to facilitate a move into a sustainable leadership model for Evergreen.

This decision to remain closed aligns with our desire to honor our calling to care for the most vulnerable in our communities, towns, and neighborhoods. As information around the COVID-19 virus remains unclear, we believe it is best to continue to respect the recommendations of our governing bodies and disease control organizations.

We understand that these circumstances have varying degrees of impact on different people in our community. Some families are feeling the effects of closures and cancellations deeply and severely, while others are able to generally maintain their rhythms of life with minor alterations.

If you are someone who is experiencing an overwhelming burden in these few weeks, we ask that you reach out and allow the Evergreen community to walk alongside you in an uncontrollable situation. We are currently in the midst of making phone calls to every family, and our youth team is also empowering our leaders to engage with students in the same way. If you have continuing needs that we can help meet, please reach out to any of our staff members. Our professional priority now is to find creative ways to connect and serve in the time when we are unable to gather.

If you are someone who is only marginally affected by these life changes, we ask that you pray for eyes to see the pain and struggle in your communities. We ask that you ask God about ways in which you are uniquely positioned to help some of our more vulnerable neighbors heal during this difficult time. Until the world shifts into a more familiar place, we ask that you help us look out for one another.

We can’t wait until we can be back worshipping together again. We are preparing for some incredible things for when that time comes, but our number one priority is making sure our entire community has what it needs to make it through this difficult time.
