Three methods on how to make cake By: William, Maritza,Nereida

Topeka High / Kitchen 4-5

We had to find three recipes for how to make cake, and they all had to be cooked differently. We chose something simple because you can cook it anyway you want, cake. We chose to bake it in the oven, cook it on the stove like pancakes, and heat it in the microwave.

Cake in the oven (Convection)

Ingredients: 2 cups white sugar,1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1 cup boiling water

Recipe: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two nine inch round pans. In a large bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, mix for 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer. Stir in the boiling water last. Batter will be thin. Pour evenly into the prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake tests done with a toothpick. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cake in a mug(Radiation)

Ingredients : 1 box cake mix (any flavor), 3 eggs, 1/3 cup oil, 1 cup water

Recipe : Mix all ingredients together and pour batter into a microwaveable pan or cake dish and microwave on medium high for 10 minutes, turning about every 3 or 4 minutes. If it's not done, keep microwaving it for intervals of 3 or 4 minutes. Cake is done when it pulls away from the sides of the dish and it looses its "wet" look and/or when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Chocolate pancakes (Conduction)

Ingredients : 1 box cake mix (any flavor), 3 eggs, 1/3 cup oil, 1 cup water

Directions : Preheat griddle to 350 degrees and mix all ingredients together. Butter griddle and pour cake mix like you would pancake batter and cook until it looks like, pancakes. Serve on plate with powdered sugar

Our attempt

We made our batter and prepped the oven, pan, and microwave. then we cooked them, shouldn't have tried to make three recipes all at the same time though, led to problems with the mugs and pancakes. but our end result was still delicious.

Cake in a mug, oven, and pan, almost...

The cake in the mug was a little dry, suggest eating with ice cream. The cake in the oven tasted better than the mug or the pancakes, homemade is best. For the pancakes I suggest keeping on medium, easily burnable, but still good with chocolate syrup.
