Germany's Government By; Ben DeBoer

What are the different types of government?

Monarchy- A type of government that is ruled by monarchs(kings and queens). The rein passes down to the next generation of that family.

Oligarchy- A small group of people that makes all of the decisions for that country.(This group is normally from the same party.

Autocracy- An autocracy is a government in which a single person makes all of the decisions.

What is a federal republic? A federal republic is a country in which the people elects representatives to represent their best interest.

What is a democratic republic? A democratic republic is a country with both a republic and a democracy. This still has leaders voted by the people, but the power is mainly derived by the people. It is not fully ruled by the government.

Was the Government overthrown?

Germany's government was overthrown in the late 1940's. Before the year 1949 Germany was considered a federal republic. When Hitler came into power in the 1930's he left Germany the way it was with the government. About ten years later ha became power hungry and started to make Germany a democratic republic. Hitler committed suicide in the year 1945. This lead to the division of Germany.(I will talk more about this later)
