Kid's Club Newsletter December 2016

Ministry Update

We have just wrapped up another semester of Kid's Club, which has left us thankful for the faithfulness of the Lord and for the leading of his Spirit! We have especially seen the Lord move in three specific ways over the course of the last few months. Our thankfulness is rooted in the growth we have witnessed through transition, in prayer, and in the provision of leadership for the ministry.

Transition: Kid's Club relocated to a new house this fall. We were blessed with plenty of space for leaders' meetings, cooking dinner, and having lessons and games.

We were also able to use the shop behind the house as a fun and spacious place for games and lessons.

Lesson Time

In addition to relocation, the Lord led us to "simplify for significance" by directing the kids who are now in their teens to youth groups in the area. To best focus our attentions, we invite children who are still in elementary school to attend. With a narrowed age group we have more effectively been able to intentionally connect with each child, as well as develop the best structure that will keep the children engaged.

Prayer: One of the most encouraging ways we have seen God work is through prayer. Over the last few months we introduced prayer at the end of our lesson time each week. At first we began asking the children to pray for those in other parts of the world, whom we learned about during our missions story. Then, the kids began to show interest in praying for personal things in their lives that have been troubling. Now they show eagerness to pray for their families and for each other ever before we have concluded the lesson! God moves powerfully as they take turns praying each Tuesday night!

Seeking the Lord in Prayer!

As the leaders have also devoted more time to praying intentionally with one another, we have seen God answer prayers immediately on Tuesday nights as well as over the course of the semester. Before several kid's club nights we have prayed that God would come over the time with peace. The kids bring with them challenging things they are dealing with from their home lives and difficulty at school. As a result, it is easy for there to be disruption and behavioral issues during the lesson. Nevertheless, each time we have prayed for peace, God has answered by giving the kids focus and attention on what is being shared!

One evening, two of us leaders intentionally prayed that God would speak to the heart of a child through the lesson, and that the child would receive Christ as his or her Savior. We also asked that God would give us sensitivity to the leading of the Spirit so that we could discern if a child was seeking and ready to receive the gospel. Immediately that evening a child whom we have been covering in prayer for quite some time, volunteered to pray at the conclusion of the lesson. She clearly articulated the gospel in her prayer, asking that God would save her, and we were given a clear indication that she was ready. That evening Eliza accepted Jesus! We have been privileged to see growth in her already as the Spirit works in her heart and mind!

Through God answering prayer we have been abundantly provided the funds and resources we have needed for meals, activities, and heating the shop space. To name a few more answers to requests, we have witnessed God provide housing in an amazing way for a homeless family, give us much opportunity to pray and connect with parents, and answer every request for guidance, wisdom, and strength to continue to share the gospel with the kids each week!

Leadership: We have also been asking the Lord to raise up an individual who would be willing to take over as the main leader and facilitator of Kid's Club. Over the last few months the Lord made it clear that he is specifically equipping two individuals with a passion for the kids and the neighborhood. Next semester they will be shadowing and learning the ropes for the position, and then will be taking over to lead together! Please remember Katie and Noah in your prayers as they prepare over the next few months to step into this role!

Thank you for your prayers and support! We know that the prayers of many believers have been essential to what has occurred in the Logan neighborhood through this ministry! We are excited about what God has done over the last few months, and look forward to how he will continue to guide and shape the ministry in the coming year! --Anna

End of the Year Christmas Party
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Cor. 2:14
