K-5 Tech News for SB Teachers apps, opportunities & stuff to brew on the back burner

Fall Issue 2018

GLOBAL LEARNING

I recently sent out a survey & received lots of interest from teachers & specialists who would like to engage their students in collaborative projects with peers and/or experts beyond their classroom. I will be reaching out to those who expressed an interest on the survey within the next few weeks with project ideas and a list of the teachers in the district who want to connect with other classrooms.

Didn't fill out the survey yet and still want to get your class connected? Fill out the survey linked below & I will add your class to my list. :)

What do we get with our "MY BRAINPOP' Suite for Educators Subscription?

BRAINPOP

You already know that we have a subscription to BrainPOP, which features very engaging cross-curricular animated movies with fun loving characters like Tim and Moby.

But did you know that with our subscription you can create a class, assign movies, customize quizzes, keep track of student progress and share feedback on learning?

YUP! And did you know that students can create their OWN 'BrainPOP style' movies! Whaaat!!?? BEEP BEEP!!

Brainpop has expanded their learning tools so that kids can create, construct & collaborate through interactive games & activities, quizzes, challenges, primary sources, Newsela articles, concept mapping and more!

BrainPOP, Jr. is custom-made for our K-3 students and includes lots of great primary features to support our littles! Here's a few of the highlighted features....

Annie explains things using a primary vocabulary and her pace is a bit slower, and her voice is younger & softer than Tim's.

When students hover over text & titles, Annie reads it aloud.

The interactive vocabulary activities invite students to draw, write and act out topic-related words featured in the movie.

Turn Closed Caption ON to have words displayed while a movie is playing.
