Regional Info

Plan de Zaragoza, Santiago Nuyoó, Oaxaca

Plan de Zaragoza (hamlet), Santiago Nuyoó (municipality) is located in Mexico's southwestern state of Oaxaca. The state is home to more than sixteen indigenous communities, with eleven native languages, which sometimes vary slightly based on latitude.

Due to the favorable climate (average 18-22 degrees celcius) and altitude (1,000-2,000 m.a.s.l.), the main economic activity in the area is the cultivation of shade-grown, high-quality coffee. The harvest takes place in the months with the least rainfall, from December to March.
