We are leaving January 1st and coming back to KC on January 17.



  • Some famous Irish people include Colin Farrell and Bono.
  • Ireland's weather is mild and rarely reaches extreme temperatures. The average temperature is around 50˚-60˚.
  • 90% of Irish people are Catholic.


  • Dublin is the capital of Ireland.
  • As of April 2016, Dublin is the most populated city in Ireland with a population of around 555,000 people.
  • The River Liffey runs through Dublin.
  • Vikings invaded Dublin around 837 AD.
  • Dublin translates to "Black Pool" in Old Irish Gaelic.


We will start our trip in Dublin, Ireland. We will visit the National Leprechaun Museum and Kilmainham Gaol, a prison- turned museum.

The Museum is the first museum to be dedicated to Irish mythology.
The prison was open from 1796-1924 and housed many different criminals of different offenses. Many Irish Republicans were housed here during the Anglo-Irish War, which lasted from 1919-1921.

Ethnic Food- Traditional fish and chips at Quay's. $12.81.

The Quay's is located near the River Liffey. It is a very popular spot for both local people and tourists, and is known for serving traditional Irish food.

  • The UK traditionally has warm summers and cooler winters.
  • England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland make up the sovereign country.
  • The UK has recently left the European Union; this is widely known as the Brexit.
  • The Brexit has had consequences on the UK's economy; the economy has dipped from the fifth highest in the world to around the ninth.
  • The UK is home to many languages, English being the most widely spoken.


  • Liverpool is home to Liverpool F.C., a soccer club.
  • Liverpool is also home to The Beatles.
  • The first passenger railway line was built from Liverpool to Manchester in 1830.
  • Soon after the railway was built, a member of Parliament died from an accident, becoming the first railway accident.
  • Internationally, Liverpool is the 5th most visited city.


We will visit the Albert Dock and Chavasse Park.

The Albert Dock is home to many attractions, including the Beatles Story. The dock was a fully operational dock from 1846 until 1972.
The Chavasse Park is located in central Liverpool. It has several shopping areas and restaurants to choose from.

Ethnic Food- Lentil & chorizo fricassee and pickled kohlrabi at Panoramic 34. The first course is a salmon dish and the second is a vegetable dish. $28.94.

The Panoramic 34 overlooks the Liverpool skyline. The restaurant is one of the UK's highest restaurants.

The youth hostel- $18



  • London is the capitol of England and the UK.
  • London has many famous attractions, including Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Big Ben, and Abbey Road.
  • In 60 AD, London was burnt to the ground when a tribe fought against against the rule of the Roman Empire.
  • London was the target of some of Germany's attacks during WWII; this time period is called the London Blitz.
  • London is full of culture and is considered by some to be the culture capitol city of the world.


We will visit the London and the Tower of London.

The ferris wheel is relatively new, being opened to the public in 2000. In that short time, it has become a symbol of London.
The crown jewels are housed in the tower. The tower has a gruesome history; in the 15th century, two young heirs to the throne were sent there by their uncle, never to be seen again.

Ethnic Meal- Three course meal consisting of crispy fish skin, smoked cod, and oyster & dill at the Typing Room. $34.31.

The establishment was built in 1910 and is named after the original room in the building dedicated typing with typewriters.

  • France's population contains 66-67 million people.
  • in 58-50 BC, Julius Caesar defeated the previous inhabitants of France and France remained under the Roman Empire until 476 AD.
  • French is the second major language in Europe and a romance language.
  • France's economy is the fifth largest in the world.
  • The island of Corsica belongs to France.


  • Gustave Eiffel designed the Eiffel Tower located in Paris and the Statue of Liberty.
  • Paris is the capital of and most populated city in France.
  • Approximately 2.2 million people live in Paris.
  • The world's largest museum, the Louvre, is located in France. It houses the Mona Lisa among many other famous pieces of art.


We will visit the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

The Louvre is the world's most prestigious art museum. The museum opened its doors to the public in August 1793, mostly displaying stolen pieces of art.
When the Eiffel Tower was initially designed, it was highly criticized. However, it is now one of France's most powerful symbols.

Ethnic Meal- Grilled turbot at Le Cinq. $134.04.

Le Cinq is a gourmet restaurant. Many of the meals are inspired by the chefs' childhoods.

We'll visit Musée d'Histoire de Marseille (Museum of Marseille's History) and the Cathedral de la Major Marseille France.

Each room is dedicated to a certain portion of Marseille's history.
The Cathedral was built in the 1800s. It is the oldest church in Marseille.

Ethnic Meal- Foie Gras Duck Chalosse at Une Table, au Sud. $33.34.

The restaurant is known for serving very traditional French meals.

  • Belgium is host to 11 million inhabitants.
  • They have 3 official languages: Dutch, French, and German.
  • Belgium has a highway system that can be seen from the Moon.
  • Belgium has a Temperate Maritime climate, indicating cool summers and moderate winters.
  • Belgium is known for high quality goods, especially beer and chocolate.


  • Brussels is the capital of Belgium.
  • It is located in the center of Belgium.
  • The Brussels highway system covers over 276 miles in total.
  • About 1 million people live in Brussels.
  • Most people speak French in Brussels.


We will visit Bois de la Cambre and the Belgian Infantry Memorial.

Free. Bois de la Cambre is a free park located close to Sonian Forest. It is in the southside of Brussels.
The memorial was created in remembrance of all soldiers who fought in WWI and WWII.

Ethnic Meal- Beef loin, béarnaise, mushroom or green pepper at La Manufacture. $29.58.

Beef loin, béarnaise, mushroom or green pepper $59.16. The restaurant foods are traditional Belgium meals blended with some of Asia's native foods.

  • The Netherlands was the first country to legalize same sex marriage, in 2001.


  • Amsterdam has a population of 800,000, but recieves over 3.5 million visitors a year.
  • The city is known for being extremely well planned, despite being a mix of 17th century buildings and modern architecture.
  • Amsterdam has a winding system of canals, and travel by water is popular for sightseers.
  • Amsterdam has over a million bicycles, despite only having 800,000 people


We will eat Bord'Eau Restaurant Gastronomique.

We will eat Hare from Texel. $73.13. The Bord'Eau Restaurant Gastronomique is known for serving unusual delicacies.

We will visit Anne Frank House and Vondelpark

The Anne Frank house is where Anne Frank was hidden during WWII.
The park has an open theatre and gets over 10 million visitors a year; by far the most famous park in Netherlands.
