Joe Lupton was sworn in as a board member on the Virginia Area Sign Association for 2017.

Throughout 2015, 2016, and continuing into 2017, Yorston and Associates has played a role in MANA's presentations to MBA students with manufacturing opportunities at top universities such as Cornell, Harvard, and the Booth School of Business.

  • Y&A remains committed to traveling with all of our distributor partners. In all regions, travel happens weekly to many great shops.
We participated in the Harvard Graduate School of Design Hybrid Formations: Interdisciplinary Design. We project CEO's will come from this program and will become specifiers for the signage industry.
Bill Yorston and Ellen Dyar attended the Central Ohio Sign Association (COSA) Holiday Party. They met lots of sign shops while enjoying wonderful entertainment by the Pickerington Central High School Chorale.

Our Team is Expanding

Meet our newest team member, Ellen Dyar. Ellen grew up in Newark, OH and graduated from Ohio State with a degree in Communications in 2003. Ellen found the perfect opportunity to get into the signage industry with the move of Matthews Paint from Kenosha, WI to Delaware, OH. She spent 5 years in customer service at Matthews Paint before taking on a marketing role for 2 years. Ellen brings passion for the signage industry, as well as a sense of determination and urgency to streamline the sales process and increase sales for our distributor and manufacturer partners. After working hard with the Y&A team to make customers successful she enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids and friends, along with shopping and sewing.

We have broken down our Tuesday e-blast results to show their effectiveness. In the 4th quarter we reached 36,886 customers and our open rate is significantly higher than the rest of the industry. Our reach significantly increased and we saw a 1% increase in open rate for the 3rd quarter.

We launched our live distributor webinar program in the 4th quarter and had great success. The webinars are less than 10 minutes and are very informational teaching one product at a time. We saw an increase in requests for information, samples and layouts immediately following each webinar.

What you can expect in 2017

  • We significantly grew our customer database during the third quarter with the use of a business card app. We will continue to use this app in 2017 to build our database to sell smarter and faster.
  • Developing a smarter database that will allow us to target specific customers with eblasts. The smarter database will be broken down by sign shops, wholesalers, and distributors. We have also been exploring the idea of creating lists by product line. This will allow us to provide better analytics to our manufacturer partners.
  • We launched a brand new eblast format beginning in January that is more visually appealing and draws more interest from customers.
  • Our goal is to do 26 informational webinars in 2017 starting in February. They will be paired with the eblasts so we can reach distributors and sign shops. Each webinar will run 2 weeks with live and replay options to increase attendance.

During the first quarter we are committed to manufacturer meetings, training and education along with regional association events.
