Understanding University Technology Benefits or control

Personal computers and smartphones allow any student to be connected to social media, news sites, blogs, and other forms of entertainment while in the classrooms. With such a reality at hand,understanding technology doesn’t really offer any solution to improving student’s attention

Is understanding technology important to avoiding corporate influence and furthering education?
Typically third party organizations develop technologies for institutions of higher education. Is this a problem?
Technologies could help a blind student keep up, or another student cram for a test.
But what is an organizations real motive for helping students learn better?
Stripping information on people through data mining is incredible profitable to companies
Technologies like a VPN or adblocker help prevent organizations from influencing personal spending. Perhaps universities make such technologies pointless.
