We're April Fools for Unified Champion Schools! April 2019 UCS Newsletter

What do we say to the r-word?

NEIGH! čÉÄ

Despite the inclement weather that struck not once but twice, we had a great time wrangling our friends together to celebrate inclusion and say neigh to the r-word at the 2019 SONC Inclusion Rally! Many thanks to all involved for bearing with us as we worked around the weather to still offer a great rally.

Join the inclusion revolution. Take the pinky promise of inclusion at your school!

Special Olympics North America National School Recognition application now open

To celebrate the schools across the country that exemplify the inclusive spirit of Special Olympics, Unified Champion Schools created the National Recognition Program.

A Unified Champion School that receives national banner recognition demonstrates their commitment to inclusion by meeting the ten national standards of excellence for inclusion, which focuses on inclusive youth leadership, whole school engagement, Unified Sports®, and sustainability.

Last year, six Special Olympics North Carolina Unified Champion Schools were recognized as National Banner Schools:

Kennedy Middle School in Charlotte, Lebanon Road Elementary School in Charlotte, Granite Falls Elementary School in Granite Falls, Sycamore Creek Elementary School in Raleigh, Wake Forest High School in Wake Forest, and The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Think your school has what it takes to be a National Banner School?
