Fabulous Fashion Comes to New York’s Port Authority

Chashma extends its partnership with Lesley Ware’s socially responsible brand Art to Ware with a new location.

NEW YORK, NY (October 26, 2021) - Chashama and Art To Ware bring unique fashion finds and live clothing upcycle demonstrations to the shopping mall of the world’s busiest ground transportation terminal, The Port Authority of New York. The new retail and showcase space will feature original and one-of-a-kind fashion and accessories from independent artist brands including Ooh Baby, Bunny Shops, Googly Eye Cru, Elements by Land, Project Runway alum Epperson and burgeoning designers.

A grand opening celebration and press event will be held at Art to Ware’s Port Authority location on October 26th, 2021 and is open to the public. Utilizing a grant from the New York City Artists Corp Art to Ware is proud to present an open gathering with textile art created live in the venue.

LOCATION: Port Authority Bus Terminal, 625 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018, South Building, Ground Floor

WHEN: Tuesday, October 26, 2021

Previously through a generous donation from ChaShama, Art to Ware has thrived in the west village and Chelsea. Art to Ware’s new location expands its history of sustainable fashion and gives new life to upcycled name brand clothing. While the previous ventures with ChaShama focussed on a retail experience, the new Port Authority store adds a demonstration and sometimes performance space where shoppers can see clothes altered, embroidered, painted, and bedazzled by textile artists right before their eyes. The interior space features design work by Louisa Thompsen.
