Just a Closer Walk With Thee - Traditional, arr. Chris Sharp

This one will get your attention! It starts with a smooth gospel-style chorale that builds tension with its thick harmonies, then breaks into a New Orleans' street beat filled with enthusiasm that is just contagious, and finally breaks into a rousing swing with solo breaks. This one has a little bit of everything! Soloists: Alexa VanAlstine - clarinet, Devin Rowe - trumpet, Grace King - alto sax

Now Hear This! (C Blues) - Jamey Aebersold

"Now Hear This!" is a blues melody in the key of C written by Jamey Aebersold. This is not only a fun song to play, but one piece of the All-District Jazz Auditions for 2021. We will perform this in a combo style format: melody, soloists, then melody again. Soloists (in no particular order): Jeffrey Turk - bari sax, Devin Rowe - trumpet, Noah McRaven - tenor sax, Henry Rusten - piano, Hanssell Padilla - tenor sax, Grace King - alto sax

Panic Button - Larry Barton

Here's a fun jazz-rock tune which gives plenty of opportunity to feature soloists, our rhythm section, and horns! Soloists: Jeffrey Turk - bari sax, PJ Matrisotto - trumpet, Devin Rowe - trumpet, Hanssell Padilla - tenor sax, Noah McRaven - tenor sax

A String of Pearls - Jerry Gray, arr. Bob Lowden

"A String of Pearls" is a 1941 song composed by Jerry Gray with lyrics by Eddie DeLange. It was notably recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra on RCA Bluebird that November, becoming a #1 hit. Soloists: Hannah Horrell - alto sax, Dylan Dush - trumpet

Just The Two Of Us - MacDonald, Salter, and Withers, arr. John Wasson

"Just the Two of Us" is a song written by Bill Withers, William Salter and Ralph MacDonald, and recorded by Grover Washington Jr. and Withers. It was released in February 1981 through Elektra Records. Soloists: Hannah Horrell - alto sax, Bailey Randol - tenor sax

C-Jam Blues (Ala Mambo!) - Duke Ellington, arr. Michael Mossman

Here is an excitedly different take on this Ellington swing classic done in a mambo style! Including a slightly twisted melody to fit the style, Latin master Michael Philip Mossman cleverly adds counterlines, a montuno section, solo for alto sax, and a vamp that starts soft and then gains momentum. We think even the Duke would have liked this distinctive chart! Soloist: Hannah Horrell - alto sax

Packin' Heat - Gregory Yasinitsky

Gregory Yasinitsky put together a fun shuffle in "Packin' Heat". After a brief introduction, the melody is introduced by the tenor sax, bari sax, and trombone section. A countermelody in the alto saxes and trumpets lead us to a solo section featuring F Blues. The full ensemble is featured at the end a brings this piece to an exciting close. Soloists: Dylan Dush - trumpet, Josh Grant - trombone
