What is the dao?

Daoism is a religious belief system that originated in China and has existed for over 2,000 years. Dao, meaning way or road in chinese, is the underlying harmony of the universe. The dao is everything and nothing, fullness and emptiness, and the foundation of yin and yang. The ideal Daoist is someone who is not focused on duties or morals; they are joyful, accepting, yielding, and carefree. Daoism and Confucianism existed along side each other and have for a long time, but they are very different. For example, in Confucianism, being carefree and joyful are not very important. Confucian tradition shows that the things that make up Daoism have only a marginal importance. However, these characteristics are not denied by Confucianists. In Confucianism, having good relationships and having ethical virtue are very important. Confucianism tends to follow stricter guidelines than Daoism.

Po and the Furious Five - Crane, Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, and Viper

Kung fu panda 2

Watching this movie was fun and entertaining. Po is not your average warrior. He is an out of shape couch potato but that doesn't matter because he understands this himself. He knows these things but still he tries to be the hero. Po is a reluctant Daoist and that is ok. He is not concerned with his abilities but more concerned with his personality and who he really is. This ends up being one of his greatest strengths.

Daoism in kung fu panda 2

Kung Fu Panda 2 was the perfect balance of action and comedy, just like yin and yang. The entire experience was great and the movie clearly had ties to Daoism. Throughout the movie, Po is trying to find his inner peace and he is inspired when master shifu is in a cave focusing on just that. Po sees this and realizes that he himself needs to find his inner peace in order to reach his full power and potential. This is daoist because, in daoism, you must find your inner peace and become one with the dao. You must be in harmony with the universe to find balance in your life.
