Desert Willow Elementary Learning for life and loving to learn September 1, 2021

Dear Roadrunner Families,

First of all, we would like to thank the PTO and all the hard work they did with the Back to School Bash last Friday! There were waterslide inflatables, a dunk tank, a bubble machine, a firetruck, two food trucks, a movie in the cafeteria, and a basket raffle giveaway! There were many kids and families in attendance with people laughing, talking, taking pictures, and making new memories. We thank everyone for coming and hope to see you at future events.

Now that school has been in session for a few weeks, this is a reminder for families to ensure students are completing their homework, reading, working on projects, and studying for tests. While each teacher’s methods differ slightly in what is used, you are encouraged to check your child’s agenda, Homework Folder, Google Classroom, and/or communicate with the teacher on homework policies. If your child is absent for any reason, parents are responsible for communicating with the teachers on getting the missing work. Above all, we appreciate your support with helping reinforcing your child’s learning at home throughout the year.

As always, we appreciate you for choosing Desert Willow as your learning community!

Roadrunners are Respectful, Responsible, & Kind

This month, our school wide theme is empathy. We’ll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect the same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.

You can extend this idea at home by talking about your own feelings and modeling empathy for others.
