Thailand Trek Week 1

Sawatdee! Welcome to our Thailand Trek! Join us as we travel for five weeks with Lutheran Hour Ministries to discover how God's love spread all around the world. God is real and with us wherever we go!

Theme Song

Let's start to learn our Thailand Trek theme song!

Where is Thailand?

A trek is a trip, journey, or expedition. Where is someplace you've recently trekked to? God's presence is real. Each step we trek, He is there.

Learn Thai

Discuss: What are some of the first things you learned as a student?

Like you, in Thailand, one of the first things students learn is how to read and write. The English alphabet has 26 letters. Kids in Thailand speak a language called Thai. The Thai alphabet has 44 consonants and 32 vowels! That's as long as three times through the English alphabet song. They also have something called “tone marks” which means you pronounce the word a certain way. Check out how Thai letters look!

ร ัก : What do you think that says in Thai?

It says love! God is love! Unless you know Thai, you might think that's made up, but it's real and it's true. Like you might have trouble understanding Thai, some people have a hard time understanding God. In these moments, we can trust that God's love for us is REAL and true and share it.

You can see Thai and English at the The Lutheran Hour Ministries Office in Bangkok.
Meet James

Let's meet James and see what real life is like in Thailand!

God is a real part of James’ life in Thailand, and God is a real part of our lives, too.

Sports Day

God is real! 1 John 5:20 says, "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know the true one. We are in the true one—that is, in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life." This is great news for us to celebrate. Let's see how students in Thailand celebrate a special Sports Day to start the school year.

We have reason to celebrate: God is real! God is love! We see this truth through Jesus' death and resurrection. What other ways do you see God's realness around you? If you were to make a cheer about God, what would it be? Make a sign to celebrate that God is real. Pick a color that you would want for a team. Maybe add some bling and practice writing in Thai. Hang your sign as a reminder.

Dear God, Your love is real. Evidence of you is all over the world—we just have to see it! From the overwhelming vastness of our galaxy to the intricacies of each unique snowflake, your fingerprints of love are everywhere. Help us to see, celebrate, and share your real love everywhere we go. Amen.

See you next time as we explore more of Thailand and God's love for the world!
