History Illuminating the Pathway to Purpose Through the Teaching of God's Word since 2001.

At 9 years old, Dr. Robert J. Poole, Jr. knew that God had called him to preach the gospel. It wasn't until later that he accepted and pursued that call. God began to clarify the call through a prophetic dream in the spring of 1992. In that dream God said that he was to be a part of the Joshua generation, would be used to deliver people from religion, and lead them to a true relationship with God. This dream stirred his heart. He looked forward to fulfilling the role as a third generation preacher.

In 1993, knowing God's timing, he and his seven-month pregnant wife moved to St. Louis, Missouri, with no family, no money, and no friends. All he had was a job on the Casino Queen and the call of God burning in his heart. After serving faithfully for 6 years at a church in St. Louis, God said it was now time to return to Las Vegas and step into the call. Despite many a naysayer and a few well-wishers, Pastor Rob and Pastor Sheila moved back to Las Vegas in January of 2001 with their two children, Joshua and Shekinah.

On February 4, 2001, they held their first Bible study in their living room with four adults in attendance, including Pastors Robert and Sheila. Then, on March 11, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., they held their first official service at Gilbert Elementary School with 45 adults and 20 children in attendance. They proclaimed that Destiny Christian Center would “Illuminate the Pathway to Purpose Through the Teaching of God's Word.” After three months, due to some School District policy changes, the Lord opened the door for them to hold services at Abundant Life Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings for Bible study. Since that time the ministry has continued to grow.

On September 5, 2002, the Lord blessed Destiny Christian Center to move into their own meeting space at 1531 West Oakey Avenue. In January of 2010, they purchased 800 North Bruce Street, moving in March 2010. After the Lord told Dr. Poole to move north in early 2015, Destiny purchased their current location of 6210 West Cheyenne Avenue that November and moved in March 2016. We are indeed grateful for what the Lord is doing and excited about impacting the city of Las Vegas for the glory of God!

In July of 2002, the Lord graced Pastors Robert and Sheila to meet Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb of Christian House of Prayer in Copperas Cove, Texas. From that meeting a covenant connection was made and as of October 26, 2003, they were officially ordained by Bishop Holcomb becoming a part of the Covenant Connections International family. IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM!
