La Paz, Bolivia Earthquake By Shane Curtin

My Earthquake took place in the Capital of Bolivia, La Paz, in 1994 and had a magnitude of 8.2. La Paz is located right next to the Andes Mountain Range and was and still is very vulnerable to earthquakes. The weather in Bolivia is warm and tropical.

A ton of damage was done to the city and the rebuild took years. Earthquakes happen a good amount in the area. The area is based right along the mountains so it gets effected by plate movement a lot. Its place in the mountains made it very difficult to rebuild when an event like this happens.
