J.R. Briggs Family Newsletter November 21, 2018

Please have a safe and enjoyable holiday break.

Late November is upon us, and with that comes a great time to share with family and friends. Whether you are traveling to see relatives or simply staying home with those around you, please make sure you take time to be thankful for all that you have. This time of year starts to get busy very shortly, so it is a small but important task to reflect. At school, we are all certainly thankful for all of the students and staff we are able to share so much with. They make our school what it is, and we wouldn't want to change it for the world. We are also thankful for all of the community support we get. Our parents are often quick to help through volunteering or other means, which makes a huge difference to the overall feeling in the school.

Thanksgiving break is also a chance for everyone to recharge. The students and staff have both been working hard to achieve great things so far this year, but it can be exhausting. Everyone should take some time to relax and get ready for the December stretch.

J.R. Briggs Annual Winter Concert is Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 PM

Our 4th-Graders Lend A Helping Hand

Fourth graders took a moment to express gratitude for what we may otherwise take for granted. Students created Thanksgiving placemats of their own to pass on to others in need. They hope their decorative works of art will brighten someone else’s holiday. Their placemats will be included in packages of over 25 Thanksgiving meal donations. These dinners will be delivered to families in need, right here in the communities of Ashburnham and Westminster, as part of a community service project organized by Westminster resident, Missy Banks. The fourth graders are thankful to all in the Ash-West community who have generously contributed to this cause, and they are thrilled to be able to be a part of it!

K-2 Will Have Author Ralph Masiello Visit

Ralph Masiello will be visiting our school on November 28, 2018 to speak to the Kindergarteners, First Graders and Second Graders about writing and illustrating books. He is a famous author and illustrator of many children’s books and will be demonstrating his artistic talents with the children.
