The Significance Project Alexandru Lodromanean

To me happiness is that intangible sensation you feel in those movements when everything just happens well. Whether that be hitting the game winning shot in a close game of basketball, hearing your friend make a hilarious joke when relaxing, being there to help someone who needs it, or the million other situations where you find a smile on your face before you know it.
An important step to being a successful person is defining what you personally think success itself it. For me it’s a multifaceted combination of relationships, personal growth and development, fun, material goods, and a sense of purpose. These are all important to some extent, and it does me little good to have all the material wealth if I’m unhappy and my life is lonely and boring all the time. Similarly lack of material wealth and the opportunities it provides can limit other measures of success. If I’m too poor to avoid food or housing for myself, it would probably be hard to provide meaningful help to others. To me success is balancing these aspects of my life
Suffering can be both a catalyst to personal growth and development or just pain to be avoided. It is only by being forced to step outside of what is comfortable and easy that one can find out everything they are capable of. If everything goes well you can’t learn how to deal well when things going wrong. People most often remember hard events in their life because these are what shape their character. Conversely, some suffering is worthless. You probably do not build any character if you scald your hand with some spilled tea. At best you just learn to pay more attention to hot liquids
"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms—to choose one’s own attitude in any given set of circumstances—to choose one’s own way." - Victor Frankl
The idea of life being meaningful is based in the idea that there is something more than the mere self, and that one can be a part of and contribute to this larger idea. People will go out of their way to help others at no direct benefit to their material riches or their personal career aspirations because they like the idea they are contributing to something other than themselves. In this regard there is something more to life than success, material riches, or achieving personal dreams, it’s being part of something greater than you, whether that be the idea of God, love for your fellow human, or whatever other source of meaning people find in life
