Halloween/fall treats to make at home By Nathalie Miranda

The pandemic is preventing everyone from really enjoying the Halloween season, so here is a list of different treats to make at home so you can stay festive and safe.

Caramel Apples

The first on the list is caramel apples. Many people enjoy a good caramel apple during autumn and they’re super easy to make. The only ingredients you’ll need are heavy cream, light corn syrup, brown sugar, butter, salt and vanilla extract. For further instructions, click here. Then, of course, you’ll need your apples. If you don’t want to make your own caramel, you can buy hard caramel and melt it down, mix in a bit of heavy cream and then dip in your apples.

Butterbeer

For all the Potterheads who are most likely watching the Harry Potter series this Halloween on the streaming service Peacock, here’s what you’ll need to make the iconic drink. The ingredients required to make the drink include cream soda, caramel extract and butter extract. For the cream topping you’ll need heavy whipping cream, butterscotch topping and powdered sugar. Pumpkin Pie Dip

Cheesecake filling and canned pumpkin are the main ingredients. It tastes exactly like pumpkin pie and you can serve it with graham crackers, some apples or anything else you'd like. It only takes about 10 minutes to make four cups. If you're interested in trying it out, click here for the full recipe.

Mummy Hot Dogs

If you're not huge on sweets then these mummy hot dogs are a perfect savory alternative. They are like pigs-in-a-blanket but with a Halloween twist. You'll need some dough (you can buy some Pillsbury Crescent dough) and some hot dogs. Serve it with some spiderweb ketchup and mustard and there you go. An adorable and delicious Halloween treat. Vegan Chipotle Pumpkin Hummus

If you're looking for something more healthy, here is a delicious and seasonal snack that only takes about 15 minutes to make. The main ingredients are pumpkin puree, chickpeas and garlic. Serve it with some crackers or anything else you'd like. For the best results, use a food processor. You can use a blender but be prepared to change the settings a bit.
