The city of London was the original roman settlement, Londinium, which makes it the oldest part of the capital and was already 1000 years old when the famous tower of London was built. The river Thames is one of the UK’s longest rivers and flows through the UK’s capital city as well as Oxford, Reading, Henley and Windsor. The river Thames starts in a small field near the village of Kemble, in Gloucestershire. Three hundred and forty six kilometers later it spills out into the North Sea. London was the first city in the world to have an underground railway known as the tube! London is also famous for the plays and musicals you can see in cities. Here are some facts about the Tower bridge in London some people call it the (London River) The total cost of construction was £1,184,000 (£100 million as of 2011). The bridge was officially opened 30 June 1894 by The Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII)and his wife The princes of whales.

Cardiff: Cardiff is the capital city of wales and the biggest city. A 2011 census reports that around 346,100 people live in Cardiff.Its the most important city in Wales for tourism,culture,government,sport,transport nightlife and business.Cardiff has a big port that used to be known as Tiger Bay. But now its called Cardiff Bay and the welsh government works there. There are now lots of shops,pubs and restaurants in Cardiff Bay. Cardiff has an international airport and its twinned with Nantes in France and Stuttgart in Germany. Cardiff has one of the largest stadiums in the United Kingdom, The Millennium Stadium important world sports matches and concerts happen.
