Najin by Brooke Fabian

See the teaser for the full 90 frame NFT "Apple a Day" below. Available as a single edition with the physical painting, "Keeps the Doctor Away", OR as a multiple of a set of 20, for ownership of the digital piece only.

My work is about simplicity, contrast, mood, and evolution.

I am a self taught artist. For the past twenty years I have sold paintings out of my own studio, Sugar Soul, or through Salt Box Gallery, in Newburyport, Massachusetts, USA. Currently, I sell independently both the physical work, and a Najin accompanying digital variation I have created, as an NFT on Rarible.

"Candice : Today's Marilyn" 2020

20" X 20" acrylic paint on stretched canvas, UV conservation matte sealed.

Physical Piece Sold 2021

"An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away" is sold exclusively on Rarible with the accompanying digital work as a non-fungible token.

24" x 36"x 1.5" studio depth on wooden panel in acrylic paint, sealed in high gloss guitar lacquer, ready to hang. Signed front and back. Personalization available upon request.

"Keeps the Doctor Away"

This painting was a manifestation of my family’s collective anxiety regarding corona during the pandemic. Yet our experiences during quarantine were of simpler, healthier, joyful days. The first and singular NFT in this collection will include this actual physical painting mailed to any location. Shipping will be for the exact cost, (no handling) and covered by the buyer. This NFT will also include its companion digital work.

“Apple a Day” is a digital work that evolved as my concerns around the pandemic shifted to my concerns about the world, in general. America is not as wholesome as advertised. In this digital version, beneath the apple lies about 90 images, at 1 second intervals. The avalanche of an endless news cycle depicting the infinite needs that are going unmet in the US is jarring. Gone are the simple quarantine pleasures of an apple. "Apple a Day" is available without its companion, material painting, in a limited set of 20.

"About Last Night..." Brooke Fabian 2020 24" x 48" Mixed Media: hardboard, paper, acrylic paint, iridescent acrylics, wax patina, sealed in acrylic gloss. $800.00

As a dedicated fan of Crown Royal, with a preference for nips, this painting depicts a binge just getting started, or dissolving into oblivion- depends on your pluck.

"City Blur" 2020

24" X 36" acrylic paint on wood panel, 1.5" studio depth, ready to hang. Signed front and back. (Personalization upon request) Sealed in high gloss guitar lacquer. $700.00

I'm not sure if it's the rain, or the pandemic isolation, but city night life feels like a blur. The bright car and street lights contrast the nostalgic sultry mood of urban nightlife gone by.

"Every Day is Like Sunday." 2020

17" x 20" on 1/2 inch deep reclaimed canvas. Thick acrylic paint in impasto texture, sealed in a heavy body matte acrylic. $300.00

Morrissey would have agreed with me. But before I got too moody and gray, I did remember that Sunday is, after all half of the weekend. Optimistic bits of yellow and orange peek through this watery piece.

"Red Zone or Can I just get an iceberg?" 2020

8" x 10" acrylic paint on 1/2 inch deep canvas, sealed in a heavy body matte acrylic. $200.00

The tail end of 2020's apocalyptic feel, left me feeling like the last polar bear, just trying to get to an iceberg. As depressing as that might sound, note the polar bear is a formidable creature, indeed.

"That Jaw" 2019

Owned by Jason Boltrus

"Rainy Windshield or Really, Ma?" 2020

9" X 11" acrylic paint on canvas board. Multiple layers of gloss and matte acrylic create a heavily textured effect that is actually tangible. $200.00

Living on the beach in Gloucester, MA is a balm, even on rainy days, regardless of what the kids may say.

"Rabbit Outta Hell" 2020
Acrylic, Thermal Paint, Gold Foil, High Gloss

9" x 11" acrylic paint on canvas board, sealed in thick acrylic high gloss. I incorporated thermal pigments from the automotive paint industry to create a deeper orange shift from clear, once the canvas is 72 degrees. Gold foil gives it an everyday ethereal effect. I don't know about you, but my initial response to switching to remote in the pandemic was that of a rabbit out of hell. And like any self respecting Jack, I was moving away, not towards anything in particular. Something we mostly see differently now. $200.00

"Sometimes You're the Fish" 2019

Physical Piece Sold 2019

"Apple Crown Nips or His 1987 Country Club"

Physical Piece Sold 2019

"You Can Never Go Home" 2021

9" x 13" Mixed Media on 1/2 inch canvas. Acrylic, stucco, paper, plastic mesh, gold leaf, iridescence acrylic, and of course authentic wooden Fisher Price Little People, sealed in a gloss acrylic.

Raised Texture

Being a feral kid in the 70's, I played alone, under the basement stairs, quite a bit with every iteration of the Little People habitats made by Fisher Price. Most recently, I enjoy sawing through and affixing them, as an actual physical introduction into a canvas piece. I sometimes think of the lives those little people led in my 1975 mind and how that stacks up to today's 2020's world. $400.00
