Number the Stars Book Diary. By: Addison

I think that war is a big battle with bombs dropping everywhere with people screaming guns firing and people falling in pain you can't even speak without the sound of bomb interrupting you.

In World War II, people in those countries probably felt scared or mad or sad it they would be frustrated and disappointed.

What do you think about when you think of neighbors I think of people that are always there for you even know your probably not related to them.

If there was a war going on and my neighborhood was effected, I would realistically respond at my dads house my dad would probably help everyone when my step mom would have us and all our neighbors in our one neighbors basement because that's the safest place we would help everyone we can. at my moms house we would get the neighbor we live next to and hide in the nasty smelly cellar ware we have clean water.

Number the Stars

Based on the amazing race I think that the book will be about people coming together as a community during war and hardship and saving people who were captured. Dealing with invasions. and people who don't want to take sides.

Literary analysis

Mama says "Be one of many. Be sure that they never have a reason to remember your face" Mama mean not to stand out because she does not want them to get into trouble and they might do something bad and get into bigger trouble She says this because she does not want her kids to stand out because she might get into trouble if her kids get in trouble and it gets traced back to her. They might find the illigle newspapers and get thron into jail

"Well,'n Annemarie said slowly, "now I think all of Denmark must be bodyguard for the Jews, as well." (page 25)

So they can protect them like they would the king because they are there people and are like family to them. They are going to protect there people to make them safe and make everyone safe. Annemarie might help ellen becuse they might need to make them blend in so they won't know they are jews so they won't get caught. If they get there jobs taken away they will provid food for them.

Team note

- There will be consequenses - So they can be perfect -

Ripping of the neclace

“Hold still,’ Annemarie commanded ‘This will hurt.” She grabbed the little gold chain with all her strength broke it. As the door opened and light flooded into the bedroom, she crumbled it in her hand and closed her fingers tightly.”

1. Will Annemarie be brave or an ordanary person

2.She had the courage to have that necklace in her hand by the soldiers when she could get caught and taken away.

3.Ellen imprinted annmarie and is changing her into a brave person that she was brave enough to grab that necklace and and have that in her hand when she could get caught and taken away.

Will I just be a Ordanary person or be brave.

My dogs smell meat.

Man v.s. Self

I chose this picture because this person seems like he could have had a better day. It looks like he is frustrated or stressed. He might be working on homework or bills that might frustrate him. Or he could just be sitting there stressed about something that no one else knows about.

When Annemarie was thinking about if she was brave or not. She was thinking to herself and did not know if she would die for the king or if she would not.

Annemarie learned that she needs to decide if she was brave like her dad of still a scared little girl like her sister Kirsti. She thought she was that brave girl but she was not sure.

This shows man v.s. self because she is kind of fighting with herself and she is getting frustrated with why she said that she would die for the king.

Man v.s. Man

I chose this picture because they all look like they are fighting each other and that makes it man v.s man.

When Annemarie was in the woods taking the bread to uncle Henreks house she ran into 3 soldiers in the woods and they started talking and kind of arguing about where she was going and just because she did not get into a punching fight that does not mean that it still was not man v.s. man.

Annemarie learned that she was actually really brave herself. And that she actually could be able to be brave and stand up to soldiers.

This is man v.s. man because they were fighting each other with words instead of fists but they are still fighting each other and that makes it man v.s. man.

Man v.s. Nature

I chose this picture because man v.s. nature means that your against nature like you are fighting it and a tornado is something that we fight all around the world.

When uncle henrick goes out to fish he goes if it is raining or if it is shining so sometimes he has to go out on the water even in a storm.

Annemarie learned that her Uncle might not be telling the truth in another part of the book because of this part when her dad asked if the weather was good for fishing because she knew that he always fishes no matter what.

I know this is man v.s. nature because her uncle was fighting the weather which makes it man v.s. nature. He is going in the rain and shine.

Man v.s. Society

I chose this picture because it looks like he might have been made fun of and now he is sad.

When the Rosens had to leave because ALL of the Germans were against them which makes it man v.s. society. They were fighting against a whole country.

The Johansons and the Rosens now leaned that they might have to put the Rosens in hiding and she might not see her friend again. Now Annemarie is trying to figure out is she is going to be brave like her dad and protect the king or still be that scared little girl.

I know this is man v.s. society because she is fighting against everyone. And all the jews were getting kicked out of there own country.

"BE brave even if you don't know what is happening"

This theme mean to me that you don't have to know everything that is happening to be brave and that you can be brave no matter what.

END: This book shows this theme by when uncle henrick was telling Annemarie that knowing everything is more dangerus than knowing just the right amout to know what you are doing.

START: The book show this when the soliders came in there house and her dad was telling them that they do not need to worry and they wanted to know, but it was better not to know.
