QUOTE 1

”It is this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what is happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie”. (20,18)

ANalysis

A old man I once met said to me that I need to make my own fate. According to google fate means "the development of events beyond a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power". So when he said this I thought, "wow well isn't that ironic". I honestly thought he was a man who didn't know much about anything and brushed it off like it was nothing. Until one day I remembered I was walking with my friends and all I was hearing was negativity. Negative thoughts about school, people, boyfriends, or families, and then it hit me. I was only going through things because i thought there was no other choice. I was sick and tired of them and myself thinking they were totally out of control of their OWN lives. I gave them a speech about if we didn't like what was happening in our live then we should change it, and I have been living by that when I don't like something in my life. Why should I adjust the way I am living? The only fate I believe in is the one I create.

Quote 2

“Your eyes shows the strength of your soul”. (142)

Analysis

When I was younger I was whipped into shape by my mother and father. I am not a bad kid and whenever pressure comes my way they are always in the back of my head. I lived this way my entire life through eight grade, and then I went to high school. I have changed and grew in so many way since the beginning of freshman year, in ways I didn't even know I could, but it has come with a cost of seeing things that effected me mentally and spiritually. I have seen fowl things that changed my soul. Matthew 6:22- 23 says,“Your eyes are a window for your body. When they are good, you have all the light you need. But when your eyes are bad, everything is dark. If the light inside you is dark, you surely are in the dark". See my soul was feeding on the bad things and them messed with you I was and what I believed in, but I decided to change that when I chose what I said, what I do, and who I hung around. I chose to cleanse my soul by the life I chose to live and I haven't looked back since.

Quote 3

“there must be a language that doesn’t depend upon words the boy thought”. (46)

Analysis

In the Alchemist, Santiago falls in love at first sight with Fatima and the well. Some would argue that this was shallow and unreal, but some would argue that the love they feel is between them. To be completely honest I don't know if I agree with love at first sight, but I know I believe there is a unspoken language. I believe that the way you act and the way you treat people is louder and more clear that any sentence you could string together. My favorite quote is by Mark Twain and it say "Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see". This ties in with I was saying completely because the act of kindness is something that doesn't need to be said, but an act that anyone could understand no matter the language you speak. My life reflects this by the way I choose to treat people. I believe in turning of the cheek and being civilized even if I was wronged greatly. I wish kindness is a trait people having come to mind when they hear my name.

Quote 4

“Because, wherever your heart is, That is where you’ll find your treasure”. (128)

Analysis

Following your heart is probably one of the hardest things to do considering your mind is telling you to not do that. I have come to many ultimatums in my life where I had to do either what my heart is telling me what to do or what the world is saying. I can't say that I am a master in this because I sometime don't do what I know I should or something that contradicts my morals. My heart reflects my beliefs as a Christian and what God is asking me to do and being with him is my treasure. I find my only genuine happiness when I am with him and I have to stop taking that away from myself because I want to be accepted in the worlds and be popular. He is my one goal that hasn't faded away and I don't ever believe he is. I need to keep my eye on the prize that God gave me.

Quote 5

"There is only one way to learn,” the alchemist answered. “It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey”. (125)

Analysis

I've always been so fascinated with the world and how it evolved in a short amount of times. For example reading about car such as the model t's and struggling to make it move and now we are cars that don't need a human being to control is fascinates me. Although this may seem a blessing it is also a curse. My father is one of the smartest people I know both street and book wise, and I don't remember a time he could figure out something. He told me that watching how things are done and doing things without being told is how to do it. In my household I am taught to solve life problems and I believe that this needs to be passed on to the younger generations. I don't want to live in a society where we can't figure out to do the simple things in life because we are scared to fail once or many time. I believe that's the reason we have become lazy as well. Because we are scared of the outcome of being a failure but I have heard a quote saying, "it is better to fail than to have never tried. That is the great loser".

Quote 6

“There is no thing such as coincidences”. (72)

Analysis

As a very religious girl I believe that there is no coincidence in my life. I believe that everything is my life is a blessing or grace given to me by God and that I am here on this earth to worship and spread his love. I believe that a God created this world and that everyone has a plan on it. I believe that I was given my mom and dad for a certain reason. I believe that he saved my brother from a deadly accident 2 years ago for me to share his grace with him. I believe that I was made the way I am, and that is why I don't wish to be another person. I don't believe in conicendence because to believe in that is to believe that nothing was meant to be. For example the value of hard work in a practice goes down when you do good in a game. I believe that everything in my life has a meaning and is the way it's suppose to be.
