3D CARVING By: Shalyn P.

Research

My whole focus point to my carvey was to kind of make a different kind of pun. So when I found the picture above, with a smiley face inside the word smile I choose to carve it. To find this image I reached up " Cute Smile Quotes".

DESIGN

THE WAY THAT I CUSTOMIZED MY DESIGN WAS BY TRACING IT IN PHOTOSHOP AND THEN LATER ADDING TWO HEARTS IN THE CORNERS. THE ONE THING THAT I HAD TO DO WAS THAT IN PHOTO SHOP I HAD TO MAKE SURE THAT THE LINES WHERE THICK SO THAT THEY CARVED WELL. I DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING I JUST ADDED HEARTS.

CARVING

In order for us to even start carving we had to clean it from the carving before and then hook up the carving piece to he nobs. The machine works by using a piece of metal to care the design that it reads from the computer, and then the little metal things presses the start button and then it starts carving. Once the carving is done we had to use this certain type of vacuum to clean up all the shredded pieces.

PROCESSES TO CARVING

In order to start carving i had to make sure that everything as all set and ready to go in Easel. So once there where no more red marks, everything was in the right spot and the right size then I started carving. One thing that was really surprising was when the carving tip was pressing the button to start the processes ad it took super long to press it. I learned that it actually doesn't take that long to carve.

REFLECTION

I feel that my project turned out pretty well. I would have like for the lines to be less wobbly, but that was because I did it in photoshop, so next time I won't do it in photoshop. I am most proud of how the word smile stands out a lot because of the white on black. The most interesting part of this project was when I had to change all the sizes so that it would print just how I wanted it to. It was difficult because i had to make sure that all the different lengths and sizes matched up with everything else.
