To Kill A Mockingbird "Rise" lyrics by max Martin; preformed by katy perry

"Rise" was written by Max Martin and preformed by Katy Perry. The song is about over coming the hardships while people are telling her she'll never make it. In the song she is determined and motivated, it also makes a reference about going from rags to riches. It also mentions that she calls upon her "angels" or her support like friends and family. The song resembles "To Kill A Mockingbird" because of defeating hardships like the great depression, even though they had more money then most they still were poor. The town was poor but they found ways to pay things off like farm products. Next "Rise" shows how people try to bring her down and say she'll never make it and in the story people doubt that Atticus would be able to save Tom from death. Even though he wasn't able too, he kept a positive mind set and his head high. In the song she sings that she will not conform, this relates to the story because the Finch family doesn't conform to hating African Americans. They treat them like family and friends, they do not treat them like the rest

The first photo describes how African Americans were treated horribly and how they were abused. Tom Robinson was treated the same way, he was accused of sexually hurting Mayella. No one believed him because of his race, and the jury was all white and racist toward him. The second photo shows how the person is different and standing out from the crowd. The finches were different because the believed in justice for all no matter what race. Atticus defended Tom because he knew it was the right thing to do. The third photo illustrates how the man is depressed from everyone bulling him. This relates to the story be of how people treated whites who were compassionate toward blacks. The Finches had it the hardest because their father defended a black.

Lyrics

I won't just survive

Oh, you will see me thrive

Can't write my story

I'm beyond the archetype

I won't just conform

No matter how you shake my core

'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh

Oh, ye of so little faith

Don't doubt it, don't doubt it

Victory is in my veins

I know it, I know it

And I will not negotiate

I'll fight it, I'll fight it

I will transform

When, when the fire's at my feet again

And the vultures all start circling

They're whispering, "You're out of time,"

But still I rise

This is no mistake, no accident

When you think the final nail is in

Think again

Don't be surprised

I will still rise

I must stay conscious

Through the madness and chaos

So I call on my angels

They say

Oh, ye of so little faith

Don't doubt it, don't doubt it

Victory is in your veins

You know it, you know it

And you will not negotiate

Just fight it, just fight it

And be transformed

'Cause when, when the fire's at my feet again

And the vultures all start circling

They're whispering, "You're out of time,"

But still I rise

This is no mistake, no accident

When you think the final nail is in

Think again

Don't be surprised

I will still rise

Don't doubt it, don't doubt it

Oh, oh, oh, oh

You know it, you know it

Still rise

Just fight it, just fight it

Don't be surprised

I will still rise
