GT OPEN HOUSE
We know many of you weren't able to make it to NBMS Open House and our GT meetings due to inclement weather, but we want to make sure that you get the information that was missed. NBMS GT Newsletters will be published and shared on a bi-monthly basis. Enjoy!
Please bookmark the NBISD GT website for referencing all things GT related. Blake Haygood, our new district GT instruction specialist, has added an NBISD G/T Differentiation Newsletter that has weekly updates on tips and tricks from some of the best and brightest in our district, in addition to state and national experts.
6th Grade GT
6th graders are working on team building skills and quick thinking strategies in this fast-paced and highly entertaining game of "Chicken Plucker". Ask your kiddo if they were able to put aside their individual needs in order to benefit the greater good of the group? Wow! This game was really loud and rowdy, but definitely learning to work together as a team. Excellent job!
7th Grade GT
7th graders have been having fun playing scattergories, which is a creative-thinking category-based game originally published by Parker Brothers in 1988. The objective of the 2-to-6-player game is to score points by uniquely naming objects within a set of categories, given an initial letter, within a time limit. It's great for practicing and enhancing their quick-thinking and out of the box strategies and skills. A very competitive group of kiddos - the library was definitely not quiet during this one:) Great game to enjoy with your family, too!
8th Grade GT
8th graders are creating fictional facebook type social media pages to explore and share their likes and dislikes. This is an entry event into the state based performance unit Pursuit of Passion where they will explore the relationship between personal interests and future opportunities and how this relationship guides goal setting. We hope you will enjoy exploring these future career goals with your students and begin making a plan for how to obtain these dreams.
