Building a Campus Relations Program Webster University I Career Planning & Development Center

The Career Planning & Development Center (CPDC) looks forward to assisting employers in connecting with students and developing branding efforts on campus.

There are a variety of ways to help your organization stand out and gain the attention of our students.

Recruiting Success Meetings

Please contact John Link, Director, by e-mail at johnlink42@webster.edu, if you would like us to visit your organization to discuss how to maximize your recruiting efforts. We are eager to discuss your needs in promoting your organization.

Career Fairs

CPDC sponsors a number of career fairs throughout the year that allow your organization to meet our talented and qualified students and recent alumni. Career Fairs give you tremendous visibility and the unique opportunity to meet and interact with candidates in person before an interview.

Panel Discussions

CPDC collaborates with academic departments and student organizations to offer career panels on a variety of career topics. Let us know if you wish to participate as a panelist. There are usually representatives from 4-5 organizations who discuss preparation for the career field, typical responsibilities, career paths, etc. Attendance varies (open to all levels).

Employer Tours/Site Visits

Employers can work with CPDC to coordinate a visit to your company or organization. Visits may include an office tour, Q & A session with current employees and alumni, job/internship information, career development and more! We also collaborate with academic programs to conduct themed one day employer tours.

Student Showcases

Academic Colleges/Schools, departments and programs host showcases to promote student excellence/achievements through student projects, portfolios, etc. We offer a Graphic Design Showcase, WebsterLEADS Academic Poster Sessions, Research Across Disciplines, Media Academy Student Showcase and more. Interested in attending, please contact Trezette Dixon, Assistant Director, Employer Relations, 314-246-7967 for more details.

Speakers for Campus Organizations

Many student organizations seek speakers for their meetings. CPDC can assist you in connecting with the appropriate audience for your organization.

Faculty/Administrative Contacts

You may wish to meet with faculty members relevant to your needs. Or, you may want to schedule a pre-recruiting trip to meet key faculty or administrators. Faculty members are helpful because they may suggest prospective employers to students; they also can provide you with curriculum information. CPDC is happy to facilitate your meetings with faculty.

Presentations

Many employers host an information session prior to their recruiting date to discuss career opportunities with their organization. CPDC can assist with scheduling and publicity. If you wish to serve refreshments, many employers use campus catering - Sodexo. You may also use our facility, including a/v equipment, without charge.

The Journal

You may advertise your organization's visit and/or presentation in the "Award winning” student newspaper with a distribution of 1,500 - 2,000. The Journal, covers Webster, sports, entertainment, and campus life. The Journal is published bi-weekly from September to May. Please call 314-246-7575 or Email: websterjournal@gmail.com, for details.

Ampersand

You may advertise your organization's visit and/or presentation by placing an ad in the Ampersand, the biannual, student-produced publication of Webster University, funded by the School of Communications. Focused on student life, the magazine has a circulation of 1,500 to 2,000 issues which are enjoyed free of charge by students, faculty and staff. Please call (336) 971-8449 for details.

Part-Time and Seasonal Jobs

Whether it's a "Right Now", Seasonal or Summer job, contact us to discuss work opportunities for undergraduates. You can host Information Tables in a high-traffic area on campus to promote your opportunities. This is an excellent way to gain visibility for your organization.
