Knightly Knews Friday, June 8, 2018

Things begin to wind down as we get closer to the end of the school year. Next week is our final full week of school. iPad collection and locker clean out will take place Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and we look forward to sending our 8th graders off to high school with a great Promotion Ceremony and Party on Thursday.

The National History Bee’s final stage is the National Finals which was held this past weekend in Atlanta. Students from all across the United States compete for the title of National History Bee Grand Champion! We are proud to see that Harrison Snow and Andrew Kwon competed and represented Smith and the state of Michigan. Congrats, gentlemen!

A great, big THANK YOU is in order for the Smith PTO Officers who supported Smith in so many ways this year, including classroom/program grants and giving of more than $8,000: President: Jaime Crockett; Vice-President: Cherie Armstrong; Secretary: Stephanie Krane-Boehmer; Treasurer: Victoria King. And to all parents who volunteered your time, energy, and money in support of Smith: THANK YOU!!!

Information and activities taking place at school next week are listed below. Enjoy your weekend!

SparkCS for Girls!

SparkCS is a summer program sponsored by the National Center for Women in Informational Technology through the IA East. This program's goal is to spark interest in computer science for girls entering grades 4-7 in Fall 2018. SparkCS is completely free to all participants, and we are also offering a free Dash robot valued at $150 to all attendees as well.
