Civil law are wrongs committed against individual people. There is usually a plaintiff and a defendant -Punitive -Substantive | Examples include filing for divorce, custody of a child. suing a company, etc.
Criminal law is when you commit a crime against citezens rights to live in peace. an example is of murder or drunk driving. You'd have to pay fees, do prison time, or even get sentenced to the death penalty.
