South Downs Walk May 2016

May Day - a sunny Sunday at the start of May, meant an ideal opportunity to enjoy a long walk on the South Downs.

Parking at the Seven Sisters Country Park, we walked into Friston Forest and looked out for interesting vistas...
Much evidence of den building - and plenty of signs of Spring.
Catching a glimpse of the Cuckmere - winding down to the sea.
Lots of beautiful trees!
Walking through Friston - a quick visit to the church and the Tapsell gate into the churchyard (a feature found only in East Sussex).
Heading downhill towards East Dean - wonderful cirrus clouds were eye-catching.
Just in time for a late lunch. The Tiger Inn had customers queuing out of the door - so we sat at the café opposite and enjoyed a tasty ploughman's platter.
Swept down towards the sea!
Watched by lambs, but the ewes weren't interested.
On to the South Downs Way and along the Seven Sisters...
Back towards the Cuckmere.
Then back inland, alongside the water, to the car park.
Time to cool off!
