The Patriot Preview A Quarterly Glimpse of Albemarle High School

1st Quarter Preview: NOVEMBER 7, 2018

Principal's Message

Dr. Jesse Turner, Principal

The opening of school has been a success at Albemarle High School, and students have filled the hallways with positive vibes since the first day of school. Class officers were given the opportunity to address their peers at our opening class meetings, and student leadership has continued to make an impact on our school through focusing on the theme, "Small Great Things" which was the theme of the AHS Leadership Retreat. All of our programs of study, co-curricular and extracurricular clubs and organizations continue to work together in order to make Albemarle High School a learning community that encourages, challenges and empowers everyone to experience success. Within the next week grades will be finalized and reported for the first quarter, and families are encouraged to partner with us in order to maximize learning and education outcomes for your children. Thank you for allowing us to serve your student, and I am excited to share the first release of our Patriot Preview to provide you with a glimpse of the greatness we see on a daily basis here at Albemarle High School.

"Eye in the Sky" Initiative

Adam Seipel and Chris Bunin were awarded a Century Link Technology for Teachers grant to develop professional-grade transdisciplinary activities and opportunities for teachers and students using Drone Technology. The goal is to capture, process, and analyze data to inform community action. We have partnered with SkyClad Aerial to train teachers and students to use drones to capture photography, videography, and photogrammetry. SkyClad will trained teachers at AHS on 10/29/2018, and will train another team of teachers and students on 11/12/2018. To the left is an example of a photo taken from the first training.
