What dangers do you see as a person stranded on this deserted island. Be specific and explain your answers.
my dangers are big animals, snakes, dangerous plants the big animals will be rhino's and any big animals there dangerous because they will eat you and harm you bad. the snakes are dangerous because they will bite and some can swallow you whole and also some snakes are poisonous. the plants can be dangerous because they can kill you and some if you eat them you will die.
Create a list of characters from the novel The Lord of the Flies and add details about them using textual evidence from the novel.
Ralph: he is tall, golden brown, and he is the leader, and he stands on his head if he gets exited. Piggy: Fat, he has glasses, he gets made fun of because of his name. Jack: the leader of the choir, tall, and he is in charge of hunting. Simon: he passes out a lot.
Type the rules we created as a classroom from the board.
1. Travel in 2+, 2. Don't go out at night, 3. Share resources, 4. Clean up after yourself, 5. Communicate effectively, 6. Do your job, 7. Do not kill each other. I think #7 is the most important rule because if 1 person kills someone then another person will kill someone and it will be a cycle till there is only one person left and then he would end up dying because no one is there to help him survive and probably an animal will eat him because all the dead stench will bring all those animals and he will get eaten and i think #1 is pretty important because if you go out only 1 then you could get lost and never return but if you go out in 2 then if you get lost you can help each other out.
One of the themes of this novel is survival. Explain why the setting of this story adds to or contributes to the theme.
The boys are on the island and they have no food and all the water they have is from the ocean but salt water is bad for you and they have coconut water but that will end up running out so you have to find out how to get water and how to get food because they have pigs on the island but they are afraid to kill them so they will have to start killing and they have fruit but that could be harmful if they consume to much and it could run out they also have to build shelter, that shouldn't be too hard to do but they don't have tool's so it would be hard to build THEY HAVE TO SURVIVE so they are gonna need to kill and figure out how to get clean water because the bacteria in the water could hurt them.
Ralph has said, “This is a good island” (Golding 35). Ralph’s pronouncement will prove ironic; it is definitely NOT a good island. This is an example of foreshadowing. What problems do readers already know about? Explain why these problems prove this is NOT a good island after all.
The reader's know about the dangers of the island like some of the problems are 1: Each other this isn't a big one but it proves the island isn't good because its making the kids fight, 2: it isn't good because its already killed a kid, 3: The snake thing it is seen at different times and no one knows what it is so it could be evil and its sorta getting hard to survive on the island.
Symbols are physical things that represent abstract ideas. The following are some of the symbols from the novel The Lord of the Flies.
piggys glasses- survival/ the island- isolation/ smoke- rescue/ the platform- democracy/ piggy- civilisation/ simon- goodness/ painted faces- anonynity/ meat- temptation/ conch- law and order.
Writing from Simon’s point of view, have him explain what the Beast is to the younger boys.
to the younger kids the beast thing is a creature from the sea and they also think it's a ghost " Maybe he means some sort of ghost" - "perhaps that's what the beast is - a ghost" " He says the beast comes out of the sea" the creature one of the kids say is a squid.
Name at least two things the boys are doing or have given up that show how they are now operating on instinct and no longer trying to follow the rules of society.
jack is saying get rid of the conch and you have to have the conch to be able to talk "conch! conch!" shouted jack, "we don't need the conch anymore". Jack is always talking when he doesn't have the conch so he is breaking the rules. And they are not cleaning up after themselves because they are using the bathroom in the camp when they are supposed to leave the camp to use the bathroom. " that's really. if your taken short you go right along the beach to the the rocks. see". he's saying they are eating the fruit and then going to the bathroom in camp so they need to go to the toilet made of rock's they built.
Two rituals people are most familiar with are weddings and funerals. Pick an event (a wedding or a funeral). Make a list of at least 3 phrases people use at the event you picked. Using one of your phrases, explain why your phrase is helpful in the situation.
ceremony's or celebration's they have ceremonies in here but more like meetings
Choose a character, either Ralph or Jack and explain the effect seeing the Beast has on the character you have chosen.
Ralph got nervous when he saw the "beast" because he believes in it now. While jack want's to kill the "beast".
Using this quote, take a stand. Pick a side and explain why your decision is best on this island here at the end of Chapter 11.
i would choose Ralph's side because he is a loyal leader and even if he is not fun he is a great leader and he would fight for himself. I would choose Ralph because he isn't a savage wanting to kill people
“Which is better - to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill?”
to have rules and agree because then your not killing each other like jacks group if you have peace then no one will get hurt and once every one agree's then maybe the group can hunt and if you have rules then more people will get along with one another and maybe follow the rules.
its sad because the kid with the mulberry mark on his face died. then they thought there was a beast on the island and so they thought the beast was Simon because he was wrapped in something and they killed Simon. then Ralph SamnEric and piggy went to jack's place and they shot a rock and piggy fell forty feet and died. now jack is trying to kill Ralph.
to the people next year: the novel was a great novel it was a combination of adventure and action because the kids get stranded on the island so the have to survive witch means they will have to figure out how to make stuff and get food witch is adventure. The action part is when Jack wants to start his on tribe and he wants to become chief because he want Ralph to be chief anymore and most people went with him because he said there would be fun the only people to stay with Ralph was Piggy, Simon, and Sam and Eric.it got crazy at the end because 3 people died : the kid with the mulberry mark, Simon, and Piggy died. I enjoyed the novel best when Mrs. Lyda was reading and when I was reading because it was faster but the British man was slow and we would have finished way late if we listened to the British man. The blog took so long but it was pretty good to do mostly because my grade will go up but it also showed how much we paid attention.
