My Year in Review 2016 by Denise Ippolito

This has been a fantastic year for me. I appreciate every opportunity that I have been given. Everyone has been so supportive of my work and I greatly appreciate it. Photography continues to be my passion along with sharing my vision...

My year started out with a fantastic trip to Greece to photograph the Dalmatian Pelicans at Lake Kerkini, I enjoyed it so much I am returning again this January and probably every January until I can no longer travel... it just feels like home.

Early morning light hits the mountain tips and the birds awaken to a new day.

Next I headed to Japan to photograph Snow Monkeys, Red-crowned Crane, Whooper Swans and Steller's Sea Eagles. I created several of my all time favorite images.

After Japan I went to Charleston, South Carolina and the surrounding area for some low-country shooting. I love the moss draped trees and the laid back feel in the air.

A trip to Charleston would not be complete without a visit to Angel Oak.

I then headed to Namibia, this was my first trip to Africa and I loved the locations that we shot at. A few of my faves from the trip...

After a short week off I flew to Venice, Italy. I love Italy and have already planned a return trip in 2018.

The Palouse is a region of the northwestern United States. The rolling hills and old barns are more than enough to keep any photographer happy; factor in the amazing skies and no wonder it is a home run!

Puffins & Gannets, what could be sweeter? How about a country cottage by the sea to relax in after a long day of photography? Maybe a castle or two to shoot?

Then I was off to the South of France to photograph the majestic Camargue horses.

Nickerson Beach never disappoints. I have been photographing there for years and I still enjoy my time on the beach with the birds as much as the first time.

Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Canby Oregon has remained one of my favorite workshops that I have lead over the years.

In addition to the incredible dahlias we photograph beautiful roses at the rose garden in Portland. This year I tried a Myer Lemon Donut at Blue Star Donuts, thanks to Becky!

Vermont with the GCA was another fun workshop! Thanks to Joe Subolefsky and Sharon Klass for their help!

Then it was off to Iceland for my second trip. I decided to go in October in hopes of catching the Northern Lights and some snow.

I can't forget to add one of my proudest moments. Winning the bird category in the prestigious Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice International Competition was a dream come true. See my winning Northern Rockhopper image below that I photographed in the Falkland Islands.

Paul McKenzie and I are returning next year with a group. Interesting tidbit, Paul and I met on a Southern Oceans and Falkland Islands trip in 2012. We spent half a day walking around photographing together discussing a land-based trip to the Falklands. A couple of years later I returned again to the Falklands and so did Paul, however not together. We decided that we would go ahead with our original plan of putting together a land-based Falklands trip and we did.

The Ceremony Evening
Jaxson had his SDR surgery and did extremely well, he is one of my sunshine's, xxoo. He continues to do well and we look forward to a brighter future. Thank you Dr. Park!
I want to personally thank each and everyone of you for your kind comments and well wishes for my family.
I can't forget that I released my new blur guide this year. Response has been fantastic and the new guide offers lots of new information and post processing ideas.

I also updated my ebook "Bloomin' Ideas", combining it with my older ebook "The Art of Flower Photography". Bloomin' Ideas continues to be one of my biggest sellers.

Barnegat Jetty was my last workshop for the year!
I finished off the year with a photo close to home with friends. Thank you to all of my clients, friends and family for a wonderful year. I appreciate all of your support! Cheers to a New Year filled with love, hope and peace for everyone!
