Augmented Reality in a sandbox ⇣ scroll for more ⇣

Based on work by Dr Oliver Kreylos at UCLA Davis, the Augmented Reality Sandbox supporting the work of the River Wey Trust is a dynamic model of a topographic map. Using projection, the changes in the sand surface are reflected in the changing contours and relief map colours appearing on the sand.

this gives a hands on experience for learning about contours, watersheds, flooding, and all things relating to rivers and landscape. This classroom setup was for Coombes Primary School.

The software allows you to generate 'rain' over your developing landscape to see the effect

our installation incorporates an immersive ‘3D’ view .. allowing you to change viewpoint ...
