Renew Your I Do's EAGLE BEACH ARUBA

Aruba: One Happy Island

Aruba truly deserves to be called One Happy Island.

With top ranked beaches, endless days of sunshine, cooling breezes, a bounty of international cuisine, countless land and sea diversions and some of the friendliest people in the world, it's a sure bet for travelers in search of effortless fun in the sun.

Our Aruba Weddings

It's no surprise that many discerning couples choose One Happy Island as the place to celebrate their One Happy Day.

In fact, we were one such couple.

In 2009 we scoured travel reviews and advice from experts in search of the perfect location for our Caribbean destination wedding the following year. Aruba emerged as the clear winner when we factored in bang for your buck, something for everyone and the "wow" factor of hosting our beachy chic wedding on a secluded island (Renaissance Island) at sunset.

Two years later, we returned to Aruba for our first biennial vow renewal. The officiant from our wedding presided over our small ceremony on a secluded strip of Eagle Beach with a few close friends and family. Unlike our initial wedding, it was simple and sweet. But just like the first, it was magical.

If the third time truly is a charm, we weren't willing to risk the chance of missing it when Aruba Tourism announced its groundbreaking Renew Your I Do's when Aruba Tourism event.

It was truly a sight to behold.

Wedding in Paradise

Bustling Eagle Beach - ranked number three in the world - was transformed into a destination wedding in paradise. Couples were invited to don "white with a pop of Caribbean color". Ladies turned out in every style of dress imaginable from simple knee length sun dresses to floor length lace gowns. Men accompanied them in tropical shirts, linen pants and even a few tailored suits.

Couples wandered among a smattering of wedding arches erected in the sand for photo taking. Glowing in the light of the setting sun, they posed for breathtaking photos backed by crystalline water and sailing boats. Music from a live band provided a the perfect soundtrack for the festivities.

The Ceremony

While the setting sun cast its final rays, the mistress of ceremonies gave a hearty welcome to the sun-kissed participants and invited renewing couples to converge behind a bedazzled arch of driftwood and crystals.

Initial cheers of excitement gave way to whispers then quieted to a hush as the exchange of vows began.

As the officiant spoke words of humor, wisdom and encouragement smiles and kisses were shared. It was a powerful event, bringing some couples to tears.

Once the final I Do's were exchanged in unison, the crowd burst into cheers.

The Reception

The event's final hour was celebrated with champagne toasts, light hors d'oeuvres, and sunset photos. A line formed for photo ops in front of the massive I Do prop in the sand. A rainbow of carnival dancers wove through the crowd and led everyone onto the dance floor.
