Our Habitat Project Mrs. mercado's Class

Constructing a habitat for our earthworm. We modeled the three layers of soil using three different materials.

Preparing food for our earthworms. We placed it at the top of our habitat and watched as our earthworms took it to their burrows.

The orange peel and grapefruit peel is a favorite food.

So.... we prepared lots of it.

We Measured and named our earthworms. It's a good thing we learned about mixed numbers in math class today!

We learned about the parts of our earthworm and how to handle it.

Recorded the information in our Science journals.

Now we are ready to investigate.

We investigated the earthworms reaction to light. We found out it doesn't like the light.

We worked on our KWL chart and looked up information we wanted to know about our earthworms.

We found out some interesting facts.

Recording all the information in our Science journals.

We made a Tellagami with the information we gathered. This will be used when the second graders come to visit us on Friday.

The second graders came to visit us after mass on Friday.

We had lots to tell them about earthworms!

It was lots of fun!

I had my journal to refer to.

We shared some of the investigations we had done.

The second graders were attentive.

Some wanted to hold the earthworms.

Some looked for the earthworms blood vessel.

Some had questions and we had the answers!

What a great week we had learning about earthworms!
