The Divine: A Cultural Experience

Introduction

My trip to Constans Theatre was a very enjoyable trip and experience. I went with two other friends and we were very intrigued by the cultural experience and plan to attend similar activities.

The Spatial Experience

One of the first things I noticed as I walked into the Constans Theatre was the intricate and expansive design of the theatre. I felt excited and curious about the upcoming play and the details and set design really caught my eye and definitely enhanced this feeling. Our seats were very close and this made the play feel much more real. As the lights dimmed my senses were heightened and my excitement for the play grew. All these features were very nice and made the experience much better.

The Social Experience

I attended the play with two other friends of mine. We walked to the play together from our dorm. Seeing the play with friends made it a lot better and more interesting. I was able to share my insights with my friends and we were able to talk about our opinions of everything around it. If I went alone I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.

The Cultural and Intellectual Experience

The main issues addressed in the play were poverty and child labor. I knew absolutely nothing about the play beforehand and I obviously was against these issues, but the play only strengthened my opinions on them. I personally have never faced these issues personally, but the play allowed me to gain perspective that I didn't have before. It was really enlightening to see these issues addressed in theatre and I definitely learned a lot.

The Emotional Experience

This play provides an oppurtunity for katharsis by examining our society's past and the moral mistakes we made. It addresses sensitive issues that we want to forget and forces us to face our faults. In order to "come clean," we must get a little dirty first. This is essential for us to improve as people and society.

Conclusion

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at the Constans Theatre and would definitely again with my friends. Every part of the experience was enjoyable.
