He was born in Melbourne, Australia, he is the starting point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, his name is….. Kyrie Irving!! He has had a very good basketball career. To begin with, Kyrie played for Duke in his college career. Kyrie was first overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, he got drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In his first season, he achieved 2011-2012 Rookie Of The Year. He was also selected to be on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Additionally, he played for the USA basketball team, which won him a gold medal in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. In his career he has achieved many different things.

Basketball is a big part in his life but he has other interests to. To start off, Kyrie likes to read and keep a journal, he also likes to sing and dance. His godfather used to play in the Australian basketball league, his name is Rod Strickland. He also has a cousin who plays for Kentucky, his name is Isaiah Briscoe and he is one of the best players in the NCAA Men's Basketball League. Irving made a promise to his father that he would finish his bachelor's degree in duke within five years. To continue, He also starred in a Pepsi commercial and was “Uncle Drew.” In that same year he also was on an episode on the tv show Kickin’ It. Overall, Irving likes/does a lot more things than just basketball.

Like most people's lives, Kyrie has had many ups and downs. To begin with, Kyrie and his family lived in Australia until he was two years old, then they moved to West Orange, New Jersey. He now has a dual citizenship in the United States and Australia. A couple years after coming to the states, his mother died of an infection, so his dad and his aunts raised him. He started in the high school Mountclair Kimberly Academy, he wanted to transfer to a school that would give him more of a challenge, so he went to St. Patrick High School his junior year. Additionally, finishing his high school career he was ranked the number two basketball player by scout, fourth by rivals, and third by ESPN. Then, in college he played for Duke University before being the number one pick in the 2011 draft. He got selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the end, Kyrie’s hard work got him to where he is now in his career.
