So So Beautiful
"This is one seriously gorgeous and unique venue. With all the plants, the stream, and the twinkly lights, you cannot beat the ambiance. What's more - our wedding was during the Winter Walk of Lights, so everything was decorated for the holidays and our guests were able to step outside to enjoy the light displays and some hot cocoa. We were so pleased with this venue. The staff is very flexible and works closely with Great Blue Heron Catering. Highly recommend." - by Elizabeth S
I loved my venue
"We had our wedding the first weekend of their winter season, which meant that we received a 25% discount on venue fees, and had access to their winter walk of lights during the reception. The staff was wonderful to work and plan with. The Christmas decorations ended up working perfectly with our color scheme and made everything just a little more special. I can't recommend them highly enough. The service, quality and value were all top notch and I hope if you use this venue that you will have just as great of an experience. We also used their catering service (Great Blue Heron) which I have reviewed separately... but in a nutshell, the food was fantastic, the staff was professional, and the head chef made all of the small details count!" - Becky M
RUST WAS THE PERFECT SETTING FOR OUR WEDDING
"My (now) husband and I loved that we were able to have our ceremony and reception in one place AND in a beautiful setting. We both love the outdoors so the private garden and forest surroundings were exactly what we were looking for. We also really liked that we didn’t need to look for a caterer given Rust operates in conjunction with Great Blue Heron Catering. Plus, we appreciated the discount that came with our Northern Virginia residency! Also, Jackie and Paul were fabulous. They were always willing to answer questions and were so positive throughout the whole process. What a wonderful team to work with!" - Julia G
Truly a dream Come True
"Rust Manor House was my Dream venue. Its a gorgeous and well maintained house on an absolutely enchanting garden property. Everything about this venue is beautiful. We were married under an amazing tree in the back garden, had cocktail hour in the manor and the reception was in the tent. The venue was perfect in every way. The bridal suite was huge, and has a private bathroom and there is even a grooms cottage for the guys to hang out in. They did a wonderful job helping me plan out decor, seating, table placement, and weather back up plans. I can only say that I love this venue and we have returned a few times just to picnic or take family pictures here. It’s just wonderful." - Cyre Q
Beautiful site with ACCOMMODATING staff
"We initially chose The Woodlands at Algonkian for our October 11, 2014 wedding ceremony and reception because we thought the park and reception facility were beautiful. However, we soon discovered that the services offered for the price we paid were also an excellent deal. The amount of time the site is available on the day of the wedding is great (we were able to begin setting up as soon as we wanted in the morning for a 4:30 pm ceremony), and we found that we could have a longer reception than most other venues (especially wineries) we considered. Plus, Great Blue Heron Catering, their onsite caterer, offers delicious food and the most affordable beverage packages we found during our search. (They also allow you to choose your own caterer for an additional fee if you love the site but have a specific caterer in mind--these terms are clearly laid out in their contract and venue information packet.) Most importantly, the staff of The Woodlands did a wonderful job on the day of our wedding, and Anna, the onsite coordinator, was very responsive via email leading up to our big day. We highly recommend this venue!" - Laura
"The Woodlands helped make our wedding day perfect! The staff was extremely helpful and very responsive. The surrounding park was also a beautiful setting for pictures. We truly enjoyed our experience at the Woodlands and would recommend it to others planning a special event." - Nicole M

Imagine if you will, the sequence as guests enter the park, leaving the fast-paced world behind at route 123, - meandering along the gentle curves of the tree-lined entrance road. Upon arrival, the first view is the historic brick kiln’s solid, simple form, with just a glimpse of the new building’s soaring glass entrance. At the gracious arrival court in front of the main entrance, guests will get a fuller view of the building’s composition, seeing the two primary components—glass and timber—coming together as one, a poetic symbol of the event they are about to witness.
Inside the main event space, guests are enclosed by these two halves – one side made up of light-filled, lacy glass walls, opening to views of the surrounding natural site; the other lined with sturdy, solid timber, paying tribute to the towering trees located throughout the park.
Set atop the bluff, the building length is oriented south, so as one moves through the building, the focus is drawn towards the beautiful view down the long stretch of the Occoquan River, a constant reminder that this is no ordinary setting.
Surrounding the building, the Wedding Garden, paved terraces, and boardwalk plaza will have the same visual connection to the river. Guests will leave with a lasting memory of their unique experience at Occoquan Regional Park, one that is second to none.
Some of the amenities that The River View will offer include a pre-event space for your cocktail hour, a beautiful bridal room for you and your bridal party to prepare for the big day, a Groom’s Cottage for the groomsmen, on-site catering provided by Great Blue Heron, stunning views of the water, outdoor ceremony space, and a spacious event space to accommodate 300 guests.
