Art Relfection By: Jose Colon

Logo Project

This was my first quarter project which was a group project with my partner Tsion. These logos are some that me and her made for a restaurant business that was going to be judged in a competition. We used online art tools to create these logos which was something way out of my comfort zone, I prefer hand drawings. But now I know how to seek help with online art and understand that tracing really helps when trying to create art online.

Box Project

This was my memory box project, completed in quarter two. I used the maker space to make this box and different acrylic paints to write quotes of things I liked at the time. This was the first time I used the maker space to create an art piece. Which made it really difficult and now I understand the nature of wood a lot more so if I were to complete another project with wood I know things to do and not to do. Like not letting the wood stay untouched for day after making cuts to it because the shape might change due to moisture.

"My Owner And I"

This was pretty much an extension of the last Logo project. This was a group project with Tsion and support from Ms. Hertz. This was the finale piece for the art competition. I learn how to find non copyrighted images and how to make flyers, key chains (Laser Cutter), and brochures all relating to a specific theme.

I’m most proud of my third quarter project because I combined the efforts of a previous project my group and I did with a logo. Also because this project was competing with others and being judged.

I feel as though my growth had to do with my creativeness, which could definitely be considered a part of my growth as an artist. Creating our own projects in art allowed my creativity to be shaped, tested, and expanded. This showed within my artwork. Now in the future I will be able to use my creativeness in other projects or just every day. I also grow by understanding that art isn’t only limited to art class anything can be put into art Biochem, History, Spanish, Math and so many more.

I’ve learned that Art isn’t limited to art class anything can be put into art from Biochemistry, History, Spanish, Math and so many other subjects. Even things outside education can become art trash, food, clothes, ect. I’ve learned that anything I think of wherever it’s a problem or a question can be solved through art. I’ve done this by finding differences and using creativity to join the differences together and make them understandable.

The area I needed the most support with was digital art. I haven’t had much practice with digital art so I’m not that good with it yet. In my other projects I relied on my other group members to help me with the digital art. So in the future I will try hard to become independent with digital art.

The next art project I wont to do will be something digital, so I can practice more. Though the next project I do is most likely to be a digital one, that isn’t the type of art that inspires me. The art that really inspires me is mixed media art. I feel like mixed media art has no limit and can be used with anything, which really makes me feel even more limitless. The materials within the art are ones you wouldn’t expect which also attracts me to this form of art.
