MAC News Term 3 Week 6

Principal's Message

On Monday last week, our Middle School students from Years 5 through to Year 8 met with students from other Adventist Colleges to participate in the Middle Day of Worship. This is a much-anticipated event each year and the students always come back having had a wonderful time.

This year, students from MAC lead out in a creative expression performance that they and Miss Mene had been practicing for weeks, the video of can be viewed here.

The lyrics of the song they performed say "You did not create me to worry, You did not create me to fear, but You created me to worship daily, I'm gonna leave this all right here" (referring to worries and fears). The song goes on to speak about trusting in God and His word, and the reminder that God has promised never to leave us lonely and the exhortation to put our trust in Him.

What a blessing is it to our students that this is the message that is being taught to them here at Macarthur. If you watch the nightly news for even a moment, it becomes apparent that there are many things that our young people could be worried and fearful about. From family and health situations and peer relationships to social, economic or even climate issues, on every side there are opportunities for stress and worry to take root in young hearts, but here at the College our goal is to raise strong and resilient students who know in Whom they can trust and who are not afraid of the future.

One of the many benefits of the holistic education we provide here at MAC is that we are able to help our students with worry and anxiety on a number of different levels. With two school counselors on staff, our students have the practical support available to them if they need to talk some more about their concerns and get the help they need. Our teachers also go above and beyond to remind our students that God is worthy of our trust. That we can lay our burdens at His feet, and that He has promised never to leave us us or forsake us (Heb 13:5) and to give us a future and hope (Jer 29:11).

This coming week the College will be holding our yearly Father's Day Breakfast. This is a time for our students to bring along their Fathers, Grandfathers, uncles or father figures to enjoy a delicious breakfast together on the College grounds. Following the breakfast will be our Prep - Year 2 Athletics Fun Day. We are looking forward to some friendly competition and encouraging all students to have a go. As always, we would love parents to come along and support our students at this annual event.

On Saturday 7th September the College will also be holding our Multicultural Night, which is another opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and is always a lively and enjoyable night. Multicultural Night is one of our major fundraising events in the College calendar so please come along and support our students and staff on the night.

Secondary SWAT (16th - 20th September) and the Church In The Fields visit (21st September) are also coming up and parents aremost welcome to join us for both of these events.

Blessings,

Anna Calandra

Principal
